“We can only use the fire for short term as the coals heat up it let's of a sooty smell and we have to turn it off and open windows we also have problem with the slide ignition getting the fire started

It would generally be our recommendation that the fitter be contacted in such instances, in order to assess the installation of the fire and advise further.
