“I love this carabiner for winter expeditions. The great advantage of an oversized crab like this one is that it is so much easier to handle with thick gloves than a similar weight HMS. The I-beam construction keeps the weight down on such a large carabiner but retains its high strength. The only disadvantage, which is shared with all screw gate crabs, is the ability for the locking sleeve to freeze in very cold environments. If you have TWO of these though you can bash the frozen collar with the back bar of the other biner which will usually release it. A superb crab.”
“This is excellent. It holds loads of clove hitches, 4 with my chunky single rope and more with halves. This makes it excellent for making rope anchors with. It also easily takes an Italian hitch that rotates properly as it should do so if you drop you belay device for example you have a backup.”
