Stops Cross-loading. Almost... almost impossible to use without closing and locking the gate and safety clip :)

Fantastic little belay device - the best design for a biner that prevents crossloading that I've ever used.

I use these exclusively at work with kids, novices and groups. Nothing particularly fancy - just a screw gate carabiner with a plastic flap. What they are great at is being very easy to use and visually assess and they prevent cross loading - keeping everyone nice and safe. Well priced for the beginners and group markets. For personal use I prefer the Gridlock Magnetron, however.

I bought one of these after becoming fed up with cross loading and twisting whilst operating over ledges and edges. Found this belay device instantly solved my problem, not only does it operate smoothly and prevents movement whilst performing edge operations it remains very light weight and protects the screw gate from overtightening. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and useful bit of kit with use on a descender. Its the little things that makes the kit trustworthy and comfortable.

I bought the previous generation of this when I started out and found it works really well at not only visually showing that you'v tightened the screwgate, but also at preventing the carabiner twisting.

Love this belay carabiner. I haven't had it for very long but wanted to replace a similar belay carabiner (another brand) that stops the belay device from rotating and loading the gate. This one is definitely my prefered device. It is very easy to unclip the plastic guard and the carabiner must be fully closed to be able to clip it back up making for a foolproof setup. You can also easily remove the plastic guard to use the carabiner for other setups. Definitely recommended.

The DMM belay master may seem unnecessary if you have just started climbing as, when top roping, it is rare to become cross loaded. Once you start leading however, you are sure to find it invaluable. Once again service from Dick's climbing was efficient and delivery was swift, with the extra personal touch that I really appreciate.
