“This is an excellent karabiner which balances size and weight well with the usual DMM high build quality. I have used a number of Shadow screwgates over the years, although I usually prefer the DMM phantom for its smaller size but sometimes that's too small for the job.

The triple-action gate action is easy to work out. I personally struggled to open the gate with one hand, due to the smaller size of the Shadow karabiner. When I tried to push the gate up my hand slid down the spine of the karabiner instead. The triple action is much safer than the double-action Kwiklock due to rope running across the gate in a particular orientation being able to open the double-action gate. If one-handed triple-action isn't needed or your hands get less sweaty than mine, or you can find a better technique then this is an excellent karabiner. If you do have these issues, and triple-action is needed, I would recommend a slightly larger karabiner for ease of use.”
