This is then synergistically enhanced with 0.5% baicalin and 1% alpha-tocopherol. Supplemental antioxidant formulations—often containing L-ascorbic acid—need to be applied in the morning to help reinforce the skin’s natural protection against damaging free radicals generated from environmental sources, including UVA, UVB, infrared radiation, and pollution. As the skin cannot naturally produce or store vitamin C, this may be applied topically through a broad-spectrum formulation, proven to absorb within the skin. It is believed that resveratrol works as an intracellular effector to modulate the signaling pathways responsible for age-related deterioration and functional decline. Resveratrol has been scientifically shown to boost the skin’s endogenous antioxidant defense via the NRF-2 pathway. By boosting this defense system, skin enhances its natural self-repair and rebuilds defenses against new damage.
