“My kids love visiting Chiltern Open Air Museum. There is always lots of interesting things to see and do and lots of green space to enjoy. We love going into all the homes and seeing how people used to live and where they used to sleep. Our favourite building is the earth cottage and seeing the retro colours in the 1970s bedroom. We love stopping to say hello to the sheep and goats and the kids make good use of the adventure playground. There is always lots of special events on with reenactments, childrens' activities, horses, battles and crafts. There is something to interest the whole family - a recommended day out.”
“Arrived Aug Bank Holiday to enjoy this attraction and the lovely restored buildings. Visited tainted by the fact that we were overcharged by the equivalent of 1 full adult because it was a special weekend - a Viking re-enactment group were on site (all extremely good) - we expected to pay for 2 children where age appropriate, 2 adults and 2 concessions, admission charge was shown near the the only till working but at no point was there any notification of the higher charge, not in the parking area or within the entrance to pay for admission, we protested at the time, but this fell on deaf ears...to say we were not happy is an understatement...we paid for the sake of the children. We were also concerned that other families on potentially a limited budget would feel the need to walk away as the lack of notice of higher entrance fee was not advertised...and there was a long line of families behind us who also were not impressed. Signage needs to be put in the parking areas and on way to main entrance to advise higher fees so it gives visitors a chance to leave without being embarrassed at the till. The waste bin at the food barn was sited right inside the entrance doorway and was a huge hazard to all due to the amount of wasps flying around, I personally moved the bin outside so mothers could get in with pushchairs and the disabled could navigate without getting stung. The overflowing waste bin needs to be addressed for something much safer or emptied more regularly. 3 STARS ONLY - ATTRACTION GOOD AND WORTH VISITING, HOUSEKEEPING AND FRONT OF HOUSE POOR. We also found the shop prices far too high for the items on offer.”
