“What a hidden gem. Much cheaper than other slate mines in the area. Also free parking. We looked at one slate mine close by and it was £150 for the 5 of us! A family ticket at Llanfair Slate Caverns was £42.
Tour took 40 minutes with our 9, 11 and 14 year old. All thoroughly enjoyed. My husband and I loved the cheese they mature in the caves. You can buy it at the shop.
Cafe was fab with the best view we saw all week. Thank you for having us.”
“Easter hunt weekend.
We had a lovely day at the Easter hunt in the caves. Our children aged 7 and 11 liked exploring and learning about the history of the mine and had fun looking for the Easter clues. We came to their Halloween event too as we live about an hour away which was also a great event. We bought our own torches as they aren't provided so I would highly recommend doing this as it added to our adventure.
The view is incredible as we had a coffee on the outdoor tables. They do a discount ticket for the Farm Park so we went down there for a couple of hours after the caverns to see some very cute little goats.
Great day out. Many thanks.”
“What an excellent attraction suited for all ages. We took our youngest in a carrier and our eldest is 5. He is really into Minecraft so loved the tunnels, torch, helmet and self guided tour as we spend a good 40 minutes exploring. Gift shop was excellent and even sold obsidian rock so he was very happy.
Great cafe next door with the BEST views! Such a lovely experience. Thank you, we will be back with friends as their children are 12 and 14 and would suit all ages.
I would stress the fact that because it is a self guided tour this made our experience even better as it is hard work taking a 5 year old around with a group.”
“Such a great adventure for little ones. Kids where aged 8 and 10 and and they both loved it. Cool sound effects as you walked around and they where given a torch and helmet which added to the adventure. Great information boards to learn about the history of Slate Mining in North Wales as you walked around. We preferred this to a guided tour as the kids could wonder at their own pace. Lovely café with amazing views. Great shop which kids enjoyed. Would highly recommend as it is on the same site as the Childrens Farm Park so you can easily spend a day between both attractions and a visit to the cafe. Thank you for having us.”
“A hidden gem. Really is worth a visit to see how the slate was mined, quite eye opening especially when you find out children as young as 12 worked down there. Information boards going into great detail in each cavern. If you are in the area well worth a visit”
