“I really enjoyed the course and I found it very informative. However, I did feel uncomfortable with regards to the teachings on sexual abuse. In the course, sexual abuse is regarded only as a lack of consent. There was no mention of the fact that children cannot give consent, and that often ‘consent’ is given but often due to coercion, power or control. I think to teach that sexual abuse is only a lack of consent is very concerning. It should have been much more detailed.”

“I have done safeguarding courses over the last 20+ years and found this particular course to be extremely informative. iI’s one I like my staff to do as they gain a lot of knowledge from it. I have found this more useful that face 2 face courses”

“The course was really informative and a useful refresher for level 3 trained staff. I have one comment on one of the sections that might be relevant to updating the content. There is a section which outlines reasons for a child being moved off a Child Protection Plan. There are 3 reasons given- e.g. if a child moves out of area then the new local authority will need to have a conference within 15 days. However, there is an additional reason as to why this might happen. I have recently had a student who has been convicted of criminal offences and he has been given a 12-month sentence- 6 of which are custodial. As a result of this, his Child Protection Plan no longer stands as he is in custody. I thought it might be useful to add this to the information provided as it is not something I was aware of until this happened. Thanks”

“Really comprehensive , well structured, quizzes helps with memorisation, my level of knowledge and understanding has increased concerning the social services child protection processes . Allowed me to make a more effective contribution to the child protection process. The legal context is also really important to know and understand.”
