Easy to set up however first experience of use was disappointing versus the web site description. It is slow to take in the garden material and easily blocks up if too much put in to hopper. Rose cuttings pulped but didn't leave the hopper so had to open and unblock. After advice from Cleva tried again and by allowing the machine to take in small amounts of dry twigs, helped by the plunger, it does work albeit more slowly than I would have liked. Still a useful piece of kit for those times when garden needs a good tidy up.

I've only used this once, and was very disappointed. I tried to shred a pile of dry, thin, fibrous cuttings but it jammed 3 times in the first 15 minutes. Removing the cover to clear the jam is awful - the knob is on a ridiculously long screw thread and it takes forever to undo or do up. I also tried some 2 cm thick, dry woody stems, and the machine left a 15 cm segment on top of the blade which would not come through - yet another jam! I would strongly advise not buying this machine. It's noisy, too!

Only used to test so far. Works well, item was missing some screws on delivery but was sorted out very quickly by customer service.

The LawnMaster 2400 is a great shredder after you have spent some time sharpening the blades properly. It's easy to assemble, a very comfortable working height, very manoeuvrable and doesn't take up a lot of storage space. And, it comes with a spare blade and safety glasses. Out of the box the results were OK but not great, and I am struggling to believe this will cut branches anywhere near the 40mm as advertised. I tried a dry branch around 25mm thick and there was no way it was going through. On freshly cut branches around 10-13mm it was fine, although a lot of fibrous lengths were left in the waste bucket. (I say waste bucket, a bag is supplied but I prefere to use square builders buckets). I had a few problems putting small bunches of cuttings through where you use the paddle to push them in. Three times I had to remove the front cover to unblock, and it was at this point I decided to look at the blade. Both the supplied blades are made from thick steel and they're reversible, but sadly, not very sharp. The blade is easy to remove with the supplied Allan key which is stored inside the housing, but you'll also need a screwdriver. Firstly I flattened the back of each blade on wet and dry abbrasive paper before sharpening the blade using a fine stone bench grinder. I also changed the angle of cut, think of a woodworking chisel or the blade of a handplane. Once back in the machine there was a vast improvement. Freshly cut branches around 18mm were being finely chopped without any fibrous material getting through. As to were handfuls of smaller leafy branches. None of them required being pushed through, it was almost like self feeding, and not once did I have to remove the front cover to unblock it. It was noticeable that the motor hardly changed in pitch with a sharp blade, meaning it didn't have to work too hard and should in theory have an extended life. I'm still not sure about cutting up to 40mm, and I'm not going to try either, but with a sharp blade it's making light work of everything I've put through upto 20mm with perfect results.
