We hired a car from Buchbinder, the car was reasonable high mileage but very good condition. We did 100Km to our hotel on the Saturday and did not use it again until the Monday. On starting it there was an amber exhaust sensor light on the dashboard, so contacted the breakdown company who were with me within an hour and took the car away for repair; so great servioce so far. After this the service level reduced. The company took a day to locate me a car, then told me I had to colllect it from the airport 100kn away, they could not deliver it to me. As I was skkiing and had already lost half a day I did not want to lose another half day and it was going to cost me 250 - 300 Euros for a taxi, which Buchbinder said they would refund. Knowing the garage repair was straight forward I pressured Buchbinder to get the car repaired as it was quicker for me to collect the car, they would not need to pay for a taxi and they would not have to arrange for a collection of the repaired car. Eventually they agreed to this and that is what happened. I was disappointed in Buchbinder because there was no replacement car brought to me, I had to manage the repair, both my wife and I lost a days skiing, which we had prepaid for a ski pass, the plan was to tour the area skiing but we d no car for 3 days, which meant we had to alter our plans. Having emailed a complaint to Buchbinder they agreed to refund 3 days of the car hire which has now happened. This is the second time I have used Buchbinder and I would use them again but they need to review how they deal with breakdowns and replacement cars, as this did impact on our holiday. I have only given 3 stars because of the poor service I experienced on the breakdown, their only saving grace was I received 3 days refund for the lost days. everything else about the hire could not have been better and as I said, I will use them again and hope they review their policies on how to handle a breakdown.
