“I bought the A2 sized mat as I never seem to have enough room when assembling models, so this is a good size, and I appreciate having an inches scale on one side and mm/cm on the other. I cut quite a few pieces out on the mat - both wooden and plastic - and I can barely see where the blade touched the mat. Having said that, where you have to exert a fair bit of force to cut, then inevitably you will make a visible mark. In those instances, I would recommend using an A5 sized mat, so you can make as many slices and gouges as you like without affecting the integrity of the larger mat. The small mats are cheap as chips so it doesn't matter how many you go through. Green side up is my preference, not for the inches scale but it offers a good contrast against light coloured pieces for assembly, and therefore minimises the possibility that you mislay a piece. All in all, the A2 mat is a very sound investment, and I am happy to recommend it to others.”
