Hot Blox tick all the bloxes as far as I'm concerned because: their made in Britain status and their very low smoke burn are environmentally sound, their long lasting so I don't get through too many and they are economical per kilo too. they are not hard to light. They pack very compactly both on the pallet and in the shed so you get a lot in a load and don't need too much space to store them.

Dear Calido, Very disappointed, Your blocs make nearly twice as much ash, burn no hotter than real logs, they last little more than an hour, they also leave a residue on the wood burner glass. I will not be reordering, I feel slightly cheated having paid £299 for no real advantage.

Dear John, Thank you for your order and your review. It's disappointing that you don't like the product and feel they deserve a 1 star review. We describe these as a budget product at less than £300 for 960kgs of fuel delivered to your door. We supply two more expensive but hotter burning briquettes which are in a different league to these, it's a case of getting what you pay for. Regarding you're comment about feeling cheated, we do offer a sample pack for people to try before buying in bulk. We highly recommend this before ordering a full pallet as not every stove is the same, all fuels burn differently and and not every user has the same requirements. This sample pack comes with a voucher for £10 off if you go ahead and order a full pallet, if you don't like the product then it hasn't cost you that much to try it. Kind Regards, John Farrell Owner Calido Logs and Stoves

We use these in a stove and they work well, expecially if mixed with logs or peat.

I bought a pallet of Hardwood Heat logs in error (that's the internet for you) - for many years I have been burning the wood briquettes or their equivalent: my comments are therefore a comparison of the heat logs to the briquettes. I am disappointed with the heat logs. They produce a huge volume of ash which is very fine and flyaway. So when you open the stove door you get quite a mess (the ash will have burnt away by morning but still produces a lot of ash compared to wood briquettes). I am also finding that to get them to burn rather than smolder I need to have quite a bit of air. They are also burning away quite a bit faster than the heat logs. Finally, the heat logs are very brittle and dusty so they are a real mess to manage. Wood dust trails everywhere. I wont buy them again.
