The shower ‘engine’ is an exact fit, very easy to replace in 15 minutes or so, and saves having to re-configure any pipe work or cabling.

On the whole a good unit, Just a pity that the whole unit should fail due to one simple electrical component. My next move will be to strip down the replaced unit and a previously replaced one. with which to make up one good unit ready for when the current one fails.

This is the second unit to replace the original shower fitted in 2010 although this is the only shower in the property so it's constantly in use and therefore the lifetime is possibly affected by this. So easy to install and requires no modifications to the existing fitment therefore making this a 15min job to replace.

We have had a Gainsborough Model E for getting on for 20 years. Over the last 7 years, or thereabouts, we have had to replace the engine several times and it is apparent that they now tend to last just a few months past the guarantee period. On the latest occasion, I found that the front cover design has changed (mainly it's deeper) and a couple of electrical connections on the engine now stand further forward so that it no longer fits the old E model cover.
