“Excellent, well-made piece of kit. Keeps food dry & out of reach from vermin. Only issue is that the chickens are frightened when they step on the treadle to get the food, it takes some time for them to get over this.”
“My girls love this. I introduced them to it by putting a brick on the treadle for a few days so the girls got used to finding it.
A good way to judge how much they are eating knowing that nothing is going to waste.”
“A good quality feeder. Some of the girls worked out how to access the food straight away. A couple still wary. Have put a tray under them as one of the 2 purchased seems to have a lot of feed spilt on the floor. Not sure as to why this is happening. I use layers mash as this is all they will eat, have tried pellets which they point blank refuse to eat, maybe this could be a reason for some mess on the floor, but It is still a lot less messy than our previous feed system . Very good quality and well made. Recommend this product”
“The feeder does look a bit like a filing cabinet but on the plus side:
- it holds plenty if feed so you don't have to keep refilling
- the food is completely dry
- the crows have not attempted to feed from it
- using a stone to hold down the treadle was a great idea as the hens realised what they needed to do quite quickly ( less than a week)
The only downside is the size of the treadle ie only 2 hens can feed at one time- I bought the biggest size so anything smaller would not have been suitable”
“I bought this product after spotting a rat in the chicken coop. This feeder was quick and easy to put together and is very sturdy. My 4 hens took about 2 days to work out how to use it- much more quickly than I was expecting. It holds a huge amount of pellets which is excellent. The only negative is that I find a build up of pellets under the treadle which they can't get too. Moving the feeder every few days solves this though. It appears to be good value for money in comparison to similar feeders.”
