“When I ordered this item to test, in my mind I imagined it to be chewy tablets or similar so I was surprised to see that it is in fact a powder that you put into your pets food. The ingredients are; Seaweed, Turmeric Powder, Parsley Powder, Activated Charcoal, Peppermint Leaf Powder and you can certainly smell them when you open the tub. I have a very fussy Labrador who wouldn’t touch her food with this in it. I’m not convinced that having this regularly would do her tummy any good either.Directions; For Dogs Up to 10kg - 1 scoop per day, 10 to 25kg - 2 scoops, 25 to 40kg - 3 scoops which would make this quite an expensive product with its current price of nearly £30.For some this may be a wonder product, especially for dogs that may not let you brush their teeth, but I would imagine that you would get much quicker results from actually just brushing their teeth.”
“Buddy & Lola Clean Canines Plaque Off Dog Teeth Cleaning Products & Dog Breath Freshener - Daily Plaque Remover Without A Dog Toothbrush Or Dog Toothpaste - Dental Dog Breath FreshenerAt the shelter I volunteer at we exclusively deal with dogs and cats that come from abusive and neglectful households. Naturally this means they've not received the (medical) attention they so deserve, nor have they been fed quality diets. This more than often results in poor breath, and teeth that need a lot of TLC. Sadly a lot of them have lost their trust in humans or are simply not used to any form of official handling. Not wanting to agitate them any further and cause undue stress by forcing them through a teeth brushing routine, we start them off with dental powders. These powders are exceptionally easy to feed, they can be sprinkled over their kibble or be mixed in with wet food, peanut butter, yogurt or whatever else takes your dogs fancy. The scent is not offensive at all and we are yet to find a dog who will turn up their nose to any food mixed with these powders. While it certainly doesn't replace a good brushing routine this does help eliminate some mall odors coming from your dogs help and it can start you off on the path to eliminating plaque. So that when the dogs are more comfortable with handling you can slowly introduce brushing. In the meantime however you can rest easy knowing you are doing everything you can supporting your dogs dental routine.”
“My dog had awful breath, REALLY bad breath. I added it to the food and it took three days before it really, really, really helped Death Breath's aroma. I no longer have to hold my nose when she comes close. I don't know if I want to put it in their food every day, but I certainly find it effective.”
“To be frank, one of my cocker spaniels can have dreadful breath at times and nothing seems to solve it for long. So it was with interest that I tried this out to see if it would help out and make any difference. It has a faint minty smell when you open it. The idea is you sprinkle a little bit over your dog's food and away they go. It's quite grainy so I wasn't sure if my dog would turn his nose up at it but he waffled it down without any hesitation. There has been a slight improvement in his breath so it has worked in that sense. The plaque "removal" takes more time but whilst this cannot be a replacement for actually getting in there and cleaning your dogs teeth it is a useful too as part of a wider regime of dental care. It certainly can't hurt but it doesn't mean you can stop doing everything else you would do.There's also no getting around the expensive price. It's not a miracle worker and doesn't replace what you should be doing anyway so it's quite an expensive way to supplement normal routines.”
“I have been using this type seaweed based powders for 3 years now - however i had not tried this brand - it is very muh the same as others i have tried but this contains charcoal and peppermint. My westie is not a fan of having her teeth brushed - these powders do seem to keep her front teeth really white but the back teeth do get tartar build up still - i have been using this 4 two weeks now and she is quite happy with it, her breath doe smell a bit fresher but her teeth do not seem any better to be honest xI will keep using this product to see if it is any better than the cheaper ones on the market - but so far it seems overpriced and not sure it is any more effective sadly!”
“Have been using this powder in my 3yo cockapoo's food on a daily basis, as she has fairly bad plaque on her teeth and doesn't entertain my efforts to clean them. A daily scoop of the powder on her food is what's recommended and the first thing you'll notice is that the powder is a fairly lurid green colour and makes the dog's food even less appealing that it already was. That said, she'll happily eat it up. The big question is whether the product works - my experience to date is that it has generated some small improvements in terms of cleaning her teeth but not the dramatic effect I had hoped for; perhaps my expectations were unrealistic but this is fairly expensive (around £30 per tub) and I'm not sure that I've yet seen enough benefit to make me consider buying another tub once the first one has run out.”
“I gave this to my dog for a few weeks. Her bad breath improved marginally, and when brushing her teeth they looked a little better. However after a while my dog was ill for a few days in a row. I stopped giving her this and she got better straight away. Could have been coincidence but I'm staying off it now.”
“We have been using Clean Canines since we got our GSD puppy and her teeth are gleaming and her breath is so much better (especially as she eats raw). Will continue to buy and recommend to others.”
It's so great to hear that your girl's teeth are gleaming and that her breath is much better. Thank you so much Lynsay for sharing your experience of Clean Canines and for recommending it to others.
