“I already have the Buck alpha hunter with the rubber scales and 420hc blade, that's a great knife. But this 546 is different enough to warrant getting and it's a stunner, mine has the 420hc blade as I'm always very impressed by Bucks special heat treatment they do on that. It makes a superb blade that holds an edge well and doesn't take much time to return to shaving sharp. I've not used the belt/pocket clip as yet as when I'm in the field I have the sheath on my belt but it will have its uses. The blade shape is more of a skinner in design with a very deep belly which allows the edge to cut without much chance of popping the point through the hide where as my alpha is more of a general use blade.
It opens very easy one handed and as a much stronger frame lock than the alpha though I've never had a problem with it failing. The little plates that sit on the scales are metal and if desired they could be took off and polished I've seen that done and it looks good though a little shiny for hunting. I think it's a well thought out knife with good balance and a blade and frame that will with maintainance last a lifetime. If that's what your after in a folding knife then you won't go far wrong with this baby. Get one and see for yourself. It's not the cheapest knife out there but quality costs and it is made in the USA. Another bonus”
