About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

I already have a couple of Billingham bags that I love, but a recent trip made me realise the value of a luggage pass-through. The Hadley One also has a laptop sleeve, so is perfect for travel. Billingham's quality never varies, and is superb.

I have 11 Billingham bags and this Hadley One is the best bag among other beautiful Billingham Bag by far. Of course, that is depend on the gears I use for the day but still I love this bag as far as I can carry this relatively bigger bag for the occation. My recent main camera system is Fujifilm GFX. Hadley One is great to carry GFX100S with lens attched and 2 other lens. One of the most beautiful point of the bag is thicker lining which can protect Camera/Lens without insert and more solid without insert. Another advantage to other Hadley brothers is the half insert. It is very flexible. Only an issue is how to store small lens such as GF50mm/F3.5. If we can use the compartment in 2 stories (Flap divider is not sufficiet) but i know none of camera bags can achieve this and I did not score any minus on this point. I would like Billigham to make a small box just to fit at the bottom of the left/right conor after the half insert is fixed at center. That will give perfection to Hadley One.

Canon EOS R3 fits Hadley One I recently changed from using a Canon R5 to a Canon R3 and needed a new Billingham bag to accommodate its larger body size. My trusty Khaki and Tan Hadley Pro would just not stretch enough for it to fit. I picked a Navy canvas and Chocolate Billingham Hadley One with the addition of a full width padded insert and SP50 shoulder pad. What a combination, the R3 fits comfortably in the centre of the bag with the RF 28-70mm F2 attached and still space on either side for both the RF 70-200mm F2.8L and the RF 600mm F11. Every aspect of the Hadley One has been improved upon over my previous Hadley Pro. I especially like the built in and padded laptop compartment that takes my 13” MacBook Pro easily. The front dump pockets will easily hold the MacBook charger, spare LP-E19 batteries, a nifty 50 lens and still have space to spare. The luggage trolley retainer strap looks useful, but I haven’t had occasion to try it yet, nor the removal of the detachable shoulder strap. For such a cavernous bag, it is still comfortable to carry and moulds around your body just like the earlier messenger style bags. Finally, I must say a big thank you to Martin and his Wife whom I met visiting the recent Wales and West Photography Show for them offering to send me a pair of very fetching stitched front straps for my Hadley One bag.

This bag is an excellent choice due to the combination of build quality, size and organization. There’ s lots of space for compact-style gear such as for my fuji XT camera plus 3-4 prime and/or zoom lenses but will be great also for larger camera/lens combos. If you buy the extra insert, the bag is maximized for photography, but you can customize the bag to fit different assignments or purposes. The laptop pocket is a must for professional travel and is perfect for a slim laptop. The bag is compact, versatile and stylish, too. The price is stiff but the build quality is of a standard not often encountered.

I love this sage colour digital one. Hope there could be a small internal pocket for important small things like key and wallet. The back pocket is too flat, suitable for map or document only.

Coming from a Hadley Pro 2020, I upgraded to this bag so I can finally own a single bag which can convert from a camera bag to a casual bag for my iPad Pro 12.9 & other daily items. For the most part the Hadley One is thoughtfully designed and of course the materials are top notch. That said, there is one thing which I wish would be improved, and that is the lack of organization in the front pockets. These pockets are MASSIVE and very deep, and storing small or loose items such as coins, band aids or individual wipe packets in the front pockets can easily cause them to get lost or crushed in the jumble of other items in the pockets. Billingham, if you’re listening, I know you don’t like overdoing it with the organization, but please, at the very least add the same type of internal pockets to the front pockets as you have added in the AVEA 8 side pockets—it would make the bag so much more enjoyable to use as an everyday bag.

I purchased the Hadley One to hold a Leica SL2-S with a 24-90 Vario Elmarit and hopefully the 90-280 Vario Apo Elmarit. Billingham Bags have always fulfilled my needs. The shoulder pad and the larger insert customized the bag to my needs.
