About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

I loved the sage Thomas so much that I ordered a (new colour) burgundy for my son, so the comments here are from both of us. Thomas has a pocket that you can put a laptop or tablet in, to keep it away from the other things you need to carry. It is the perfect size for a carry-on brief case because it has the width to pack other necessities for long flights. If anything, I think Thomas would benefit from holders for pens or stylus pens in one of the small interior pockets - stylus pens are becoming more common with the lighter computers. At the moment, I put my pens in the zipped pocket so they won’t fall out if Thomas gets tipped over, but I am not travelling with my device at the moment. Another feature to consider would be the ability to remove the umbrella straps when an umbrella is not needed (I write this in the third heatwave of a West Australian summer, hence my comment). As always the fixings are of the highest quality. It will take a while for the ClogBalls to loosen in their leather fasteners, but that only shows the quality of the materials used. We missed out on getting Thomas briefcases when we were in London in 2017 as they had to be pre-ordered. As far as we are concerned, it was well worth the wait. The added advantage is that we can now get our orders shipped directly to us, rather than have to use the Aus distributor, whose catalogue of products was, at the time I used them, rather limited. Thanks to the Packing crew, Customer Services and UPS.

Mine arrived at my doorstep in Perth, Western Australia only 6 days after I submitted my order. The usual Billingham high standard of production applies. Little pocket holders for pens or pencils would be an advantage, especially since many devices now use a stylus or touch pen. Although the bag looks compact (great kudos), it is roomy enough for what I need to put in it, and looks smart with it. I wouldn’t need the umbrella holder, but I do recognize its need if I was in the UK. When I lived there, an umbrella was an integral part of my travel bag. This bag is definitely highly recommended, and now there is a new colour to choose from (although I like the old-school colours of khaki and sage, the colours of other Billingham products that I own). I know this is a review of the bag. But a shout-out must go to the packing staff and the Customer Service staff, Mel, Katie and Mike, and yes, I did notice the little pressie attached to the handle. Thanks!! Without them, we couldn’t get our bags so we can write reviews!

Absolutely love it. Feels very premium and high quality. I do wish they have a little pen pockets/holder inside and more small zip compartments but other than that, totally awesome product. I got a compliment from my manager when I left it on my desk, which was awesome. I highly recommend it.

The Thomas briefcase is an excellent product. Its aesthetically pleasing and clearly manufactured to a very high standard with pride and great attention to detail. It even has its own individual serial number and it’s great that is made in England. I went for the Sage/Chocolate Leather version which I think looks really good. It’s well padded and extremely versatile, the perfect companion whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure. The weather-proof FibreNyte canvas, protects your contents and is reinforced with fine leather and brass fittings and finished with sturdy leather handles and a detachable webbing shoulder strap. The bag offers great protection and has numerous interior and exterior storage compartments and pockets to organise your documents, equipment and other “bits and bobs.” It swallows my 12.9-inch iPad Pro and Bose 700 Headphones with ease. It’s good to know that companies like Billingham still exist where you're guaranteed British craftsmanship that boasts quality and durability through the use of fine materials and manufacturing skill. I am proud to carry the Thomas briefcase with me wherever I go.

1. Can fit my 15" MBP or Dell laptop 2. Waterproof 3. Tight fit to hold my umbrella in the front, thank god because it is quite big for a portable umbrella 4. Back pocket to slide in-and-out my phone 5. Front pockets to keep my headphones etc - though, it is quite troublesome to reach the front pockets when there's an umbrella 6. Unbeatable classic design suitable for all Conclusion? Get it.
