About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

I needed to downsize but still have a bag roomy enough for at least my a simple photo shoot kit as follows. DSLR, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, speedlight, spare batteries, lens cleaning pens and air blower. Having read the reviews the 2020 pro seemed up for the job. Upon first inspection I was more than impressed with the build quality. The smell of fresh leather never fails to please. Even though I was aware of the dimensions it still felt small and I was doubtful that my “slimmed” kit would fit. I found that I can’t fit the Nikon Z8 with the AF-S 24-70 f2.8E attached to the camera as it requires the FTZ adapter which makes it too long. The Z 70-200 s is also slightly too long and sits almost 3cm above the edge of the padded insert. This was disappointing as I took it that a 70-200 would fit unattached so I didn’t check the measurements. My old AF-S 70-200 would still have been on the cusp of being too long. I have had to remove lens hoods from both lenses to allow them to fit comfortably and to avoid damaging the fragile plastic. To make it work I haven’t attached a lens, only the FTZ adapter. The 2 lenses are placed at each end of the bag, bayonets down. The speedlight is in the bottom of the centre covered by two small padded tabs from the insert and the Z8 camera body is placed on top. This seems to work quite well. However this arrangement means I need to attach a lens each time I take the camera out rather than being ready to shoot. Not a huge deal as I tend to have my camera on it’s neck strap when in use or stashed out of the way. Quickly stashing it to run for a bus or to keep it dry is not an option. The front pockets are nice and between them accommodate 5 camera batteries, spare memory cards, 8 xAA batteries, wireless remote and colour checker passport and an iPad charger + lead I can squeeze a 11inch IPad Pro in the back pocket with a case attached. These are my immediate impressions and over time I will undoubtedly reconfigure the way it’s packed but it seems to fine. The Hadley One would of carried the kit slightly better but at a price. Hope this helps. If I can work out how to include photos I will add some

The quality is outstanding. The service impeccable. So it’s a bit more expensive. But it’ll last a lifetime.

I wanted something just a bit bigger than the Hadley Small that I’ve had for about seven years. The Hadley Pro 2020 is still compact but takes bulkier kit easily. The blue canvas fabric is stunning. The front pockets are big and can swallow up substantially sized items. Size wise it took my F2 with a couple of bulky pre-AI Nikkor primes, an Agfa Isola and a Konica MR.640 plus various accessories and still had loads of room to spare.
