About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

I've had my Hadley Small Pro bag for over 12 months now, so I thought it was about time I wrote a review to compliment Billingham on such an excellent product, and also to describe a useful modification I've made to the divider system in the bag. There's not much I can say about the quality of the bag that hasn't already been mentioned in other reviews - it is a superb product. For the last four years I've been using Micro 4/3rds equipment and the Hadley Small is perfect for these small cameras and lenses. Nevertheless, I've come up with a slight modification to the bag's two vertical dividers, which I think makes the arrangement even more flexible. All that's required is some extra Velcro. I purchased 3cm wide sew-on Velcro, which is easily obtainable from Amazon or just about anywhere. The 3cm wide version is what Billingham use in their bags, however, the mod will still work with narrower 2.5cm Velcro, but it must be sew-on, not stick-on. Velcro comes with two different tapes, one with loops and one with hooks; I only used the looped tape. I cut four 6cm strips of looped Velcro and stuck them to the hooked Velcro on each side of the bag's vertical dividers, working from the top to about a third of the way down. This creates a 6cm "unsecured" flappy section at the top of each divider where the Velcro hooks are inoperative, so the Velcro does not grip. It allows the top part of the dividers to be bent over, or even lie horizontally, and comfortably supports a camera with lens facing downwards in the centre of the bag, while also covering and protecting equipment placed in the sections either side. The dividers can still be used in the normal upright manner if necessary, even though the top section no longer grips. I find this really improves the versitilty of the bag, yet it only takes seconds to remove the looped Velcro and return the bag to it's normal arrangement, if required. I'm sure the dividers in other bags in the Hadley range could be similarly modified. Of all my camera bags (and I'm afraid I've got quite a few) the Hadley Small Pro is my favourite; beautifully made, well designed, very durable, I can't fault it. Except that at times it may be just a little too small. My solution to that has been to purchase a Billingham AVEA7 pocket to attach to the end of the bag. It gives me just a little extra capacity, without changing the bag's compact profile too much.

Australian review. I recently purchased, from the Billingham website, the Hadley Small Pro in the sage/chocolate colourway. Shipping was ultra-fast and reached Melbourne in just four business days with UPS. The overall shopping experience was great. The bag? One hundred million out of 10. I love it so much. Some pros: - it smelled so good fresh out of the box/bag that I lost my sense of smell for days due to over-sniffing - for a bag without zippers to access the main compartment, I love that top covering flap is oversized and drapes over the left and right sides of the bag so that rain doesn't get in (unlike Ona bags - can I say that?) - that handle on the top... oh my goodness... awesome... mate, it's the way to go if you don't want to wear the bag but want to hold it without it feeling like it's a wrecking ball - the inner, padded compartment is completely removable, giving you more storage space if you don't require the padded protection (e.g. if you intend to use this bag as a camera bag one day and a lunch bag the next, Billingham's gotchu covered) - the strap is soft and flexible, no pain carrying this bag around all day (you don't really need to purchase the separate should pad, unless you have too much money and don't know what to do with it [sorry, Billingham]). I'd classify Billingham as a "luxury" brand. You don't buy a Ferrari and then start an Excel spreadsheet to determine whether it was worth your money. You buy this because you love the brand, you love the look, you like that it's made by English people, and you love to smell things.

Superb bag for my Leica cameras. The compact Hadley Small Pro actually has room for an M10 with the Summilux 50 attached, an M9 with a 35 Zeiss Biogon attached, a 28 Elmarit and a 75 Summilux. Great quality, and it looks good as well – a bag to take everywhere – always wear a camera :)

The MOST practical bag and the quality is paramount. Judging from the quality it should last for many years. I love the colour and currently this is my third Billingham bags from the 72, thomas and the Hadley. Bellingham bags are not cheap but you pay for the quality and you will not regret. The only issue I had is there was a delay in the delivery not because of Bellingham but ups . I call Bellingham customer service and they were helpful. When I receive it the box was damaged but the bag was ok. Most probably due to the customs. Never had this problem with the delivery on my previous order.
