About Billingham:

Billingham are a family owned company, manufacturing camera bags for the world’s photographers since 1973 alongside a range of leisure and laptop bags. All bags are made in the West Midlands area of England, a region famous for manufacturing. A core reason for Billingham’s longevity is the fact that from the start, the Billingham family were determined that their products would always be made to the very highest standards from the best available materials to provide high levels of protection for their valued contents.

A notable feature of Billingham camera bags is that they are made from a distincive 3-layer waterpoof canvas that never needs reproofing. They also feature genuine top grain leather and solid brass details.

Like any premium product, the quality of materials, design and craftsmanship that goes into creating a Billingham means that it represents a significant investment. It’s important that they don’t just look beautiful, but that they do their job of protecting equipment wherever they are and whatever they’re being used for – year in and year out.

Great bag but there are a few things I had to get used to. This is the first bag since my original Hadley Small (4 Billinghams ago) that does not have the detachable shoulder strap. I’ve found that feature useful on several occasions when the strap would otherwise be in the way. Not a deal-breaker but I wish I could take the strap off. The zipper on the main compartment seems like a great idea in theory but it definitely slows down the process of retrieving the camera. The opening is a little narrow so that it makes retrieving the camera a two-handed affair. I assume since the top zips closed they did not make the flap overlap the ends of the bag like most of my other Billinghams. If you leave it unzipped and close the flap over the top, your gear is still slightly exposed at the ends. It would take some serious rain to get in there but there is still access for water nonetheless. The last design decision I could do without is that there are no snaps on the dump pocket and the overall size is reduced. I prefer the larger pockets with the ability to snap them to make them smaller when not needed. My Hadley One Pro has them permanently stitched which I don’t care for either but at least it gives me a convenient place to store my lens pen. The Mini Eventer dump pockets seem less generous than my Hadley Small Pro even. The area of the pocket seems bigger but the volume is definitely less. Some items that I normally carry in the front pockets now have to be put in the main compartment which hampers organization a bit. On to the good stuff. I LOVE the leather at the bottom (although it scratches easier than I expected). I would have gotten this bag just for that accent. Including the shoulder pad is a nice touch. The bag is put together like all other Billinghams so I expect it will last forever. In terms of size the bag is perfect for what I use it for. It’s in between my Small Pro and my One. Just tall enough to take an Eos R6 with an EF 24-105 including the adapter vertically. This leaves room for my flash headphones and an electric fan (I live in Singapore and you can’t walk around outside without a fan). Alternatively, you can fit a flash and an additional lens or two. I sometimes take my EF24-70 mounted and my 70-200F4 next to it. The tablet slot in the back is just big enough for my iPad Air 4 with a Spigen case. It will accept the Logitech keyboard case as well but it’s very very tight. It will not take a MBP 13 but nowhere in the literature does it claim it will. Minor gripes aside, the bag is outstanding and nearly perfect for my normal walk-around kit. Up until now I have either had to leave something home or take a bigger bag for daily carry. I quickly got used to the zipper and the smaller dump pockets. This is probably my favourite Billingham although I still think the Hadley One Pro is probably the better all-around bag.
