“I am aware of the short comings of this flapper as it was a replacement for one that had failed as a result of the rubber hardening with age, but the the ease of changing it compared with fitting a different flush mechanism out weighed the knowledge that it would fail again in about a dozen years. Also the price differential of buying a single component compared to a complete unit helped in making this decision. This would have been even more influential if I had been able to purchase only the flapper from my local Screwfix and hence not have to pay packing and postage, but they only supplied the complete unit which was only marginally more expensive than the cost of the spare plus postage.”
“Very pleased with replacement part, it’s an exact match. When compared to the one that came out I could see why the cistern was leaking. Sadly having installed it the cistern is still leaking a tiny amount and I don’t know why - frustrating”

I was astonished when it arrived in a large box which had to be large as it included a huge catalogue, everything a professional plumber might want. I am just a home-owner with one valve to replace, so most of the catalogue is irrelevant for me. It must have pushed up the price of carriage and the cost of the book must have wiped out any profit for BES.”
