“What I like about this bed is that it is narrower and shorter than most other ottoman beds, only the size of a double mattress, and that it has no headboard (although it does have the things you need to attach one). I know that sounds like a bad thing, less for your money, but it attracted me to this bed because a) I can choose any kind of headboard I like, I can even make my own! and b) when my headboard becomes tired and greasy, I can retire it but my bed will keep going for years longer than others that have a built in headboard! The pictures on the website are pretty rubbish (I did tell them) so I'll let you know what you'll be getting if you buy this bed. First of all, this is a divan ottoman, it doesn't have sprung slats, it has a hardboard based covered in material and supported by three strong, wide struts under each lid. We bought the cream faux leather one. It's quite a dark cream, just a couple of shades darker and it would be beige. The base of the bed is all laminate wood in a light colour on the sides and bottom inside, very nice for putting your blankets and duvets straight on it, without fear of fluff or snagging. Easy to clean too. The lids are lined underneath with that black woven plastic that you get on the bottom of chairs. You have to bolt the two bases and the two lids together when you set up the bed. The lids are wooden frames and are bolted together with just one bolt. This is the only thing I don't like about this bed, if you don't place your hands directly in the centre of each lid when you close the bed, the lids can twist which worries me. Really, they should add a single piece to bolt on across the two lids somewhere underneath to give some rigidity when opening and closing. Apart from that, I'm jolly pleased with my bed!”
