“Am I crazy? When did Tom's start adding hydrated silica to their toothpaste??? So disappointed now... Hydrated silica is silica with water added; silica is basically quartz sand... Silica is a known carcinogenic, especially for lung cancer with continuous exposure; do you breathe while you are brushing your teeth? Of course you do, which means you are breathing in trace amounts of this at least twice daily... Since I have been using this for years now and I have no idea when they added this ingredient (likely when Colgate bought them out in 2006), I would call this longtime exposure... smh... Freaking ridiculous... Large corporations are literally poisoning us...
Apparently most dentists are also coming out and saying that as an abrasive, hydrated silica is too harsh and will actually strip your enamel. I feel like when I first started using this product, I definitely checked the ingredients and would not have used this if I had seen it contained silica... Just another bait and switch tactic used by large corporations, hoping we won't notice. Extremely disappointed with this product now, and will have to look for a different brand. I would give it 0 stars if I could.”
“If you want a strong toothpaste that really cleans and whitens then look no further. That is the reason for the four stars, BUT I have problems with zinc and I never paid that much attention to toothpaste ingredients. Had to stop using as it made my tongue feel raw.”
