“When I opened the box and laid all the parts out I was impressed by the quality and looking at the manual, the ease of construction.
However this was let down quite early in the build. One end of the axle was egg shaped, not circular, necessitating a hacksaw cut off the end of the thread before I could get the nut on.
Also the axle nuts have their own plastic thread lock pre installed, meaning that once you tighten them on, there's no going back so you mustn't over tighten them. This should be made clear in the manual.
I haven't finished building yet due to the the amount of time it took to sort out the manufacturing fault with the axle. Hopefully this will be the only issue.”
“It looked good, however in use it is poor. Previously I've used charcoal BBQs that you moved the cooking shelf up and down to adjust the cooking heat. However with this BBQ you move the tray that the charcoal is on up and down. There are two problems here, 1. to move the tray it uses metal handles..these get hot, so you need gloves to hold the handles and due to the fact that the handles are adjacent to the cooking area, the heat from the charcoal necessitates the need for gloves, so you don't cook your hands. 2. the tray that the charcoal is on can only be moved a small distance away from the cooking area, in my view not far enough away, so everything cooks too quickly and if things get too warm or the dripping fat causes flames, as the cooking area is effectively fixed, your food gets very quickly cremated and you have no chance to move the cooking area out of the flames.
On a plus, of sturdy construction, though the instructions for putting it together could be better.”
