Try our fresh padron peppers, hand picked every week and shipped from Spain. These famous little green peppers are served as a tapa in bars all over Spain and are an absolute favourite with holidaymakers and locals alike. Horsal are a Cooperative based in Galicia specialising on the growing of traditional Galician vegetables, in which padron pepper is their star product. With a unique sweet, almost asparagus-like taste and a salty outside, Pimientos de Padron are as delicious as they are popular. Their padron peppers are grown using autoctonous seeds from the area, allowing them to have variable levels of capsaicin vs more commercial padron style peppers who cant achieve that, hence their motto: ‘unos pican, otros no’ which translates to ‘some are spicy, some are not’ These peppers best suit simple cooking; just blister in a hot pan with a smudge of olive oil and a generous sprinkle of crunchy sea-salt until wilted and soft. They can be used as an accompaniment to other ingredients but shine best as a simple tapas on their own. Our Padron Peppers come in 200g packs with 24 peppers per bag.

Used to race my French sister in law to the last of the flash fried salted Padron Peppers back in the carefree travel days. Discount chains sell them but they're not large and fresh and plump like Basco's - and these are value for money, too. If I can't visit France or Spain - and my family live close to the border - then this is the next best thing and, actually, it's better, because I DON'T HAVE TO SHARE!

Really good Padron peppers - these are so hard to get in Northern Ireland and when you do, they are seedy, so lovely to be able to order good ones!
