Manuel Iradier y Bulfy was a Basque explorer, scientist, inventor and writer. A man of severe face and fierce beard, Iradier was a precocious man of science, dreamer and avid adventurer. He was the founder of the first Geographic Society in Spain, at the age of 14 and he explored a vast and savage territory in Equatorial Africa before 1900.
Our gin is a homage to such a singular character, who showed us that there are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going. Unlike some distilleries who purchase or bottle pre-made spirits, Iradier y Bulfy makes its gin from scratch, using local ingredients from the Basque Country. Only those who have a 'grain to bottle philosophy' can truly understand the direct relationship between producing your own spirit and the quality of the product.
Iriader y Bulfy is a unique gin made from 100% Basque Barley that creates a warm, sweet and rounded base. The gin is then distilled with Basque Juniper Berries and classic botanicals, along with exotic ingredients such as Cocoa Beans and Black Guinean Pepper inspired my Manuel Iradier's African adventure.
