FRESH COOKED SPANISH WHOLE OCTOPUS Easy to use, our whole cooked octopus is ideal for cooking on the BBQ, pan fried, steamed or poached, as a salad ingredient, in a slow cooked risotto or as part of a dish garnish. Winner of a Great Taste Award in 2015, our whole octopus is amazingly tender and flavourful product that takes no effort for you to prepare. It only takes 3 minutes on each side if you are cooking it on a frying pan or barbecue or you could just simply slice it cold and lay it on top of a salad. You will not believe how easy savouring the tastes of Spain's seafood can be. Our award winning Spanish Octopus has a beautiful dark cherry colour with pure white flesh. The meat has a fine firm bite with a very moist and meaty texture. The flavour is pleasant and fresh but a sprinkling of salt does help bring out the sea-fresh flavours. Salanort are a family business located in the fishing village of Getaria, 30 minutes from San Sebastian in the Basque Country. They have specialised for over two decades in the artisan production of fish preserved products combined with modern technology and strict controls of quality. HOW TO SERVE SPANISH OCTOPUS? The most traditional Spanish recipe using octupus is Pulpo a feira, where sliced octopus legs are sprinkled with coarse salt, smoked paprika and drizzled with olive oil. The dish is traditionally served on wooden plates, along with sliced boiled potatoes and bread. Tradition dictates that drinking water should not accompany octopus, so the dish is usually accompanied by a young red wine such as our Scandalo Monastrell but we also recommend a traditional Galician white wine such as our Aquitania Albarino Bernon. HOW TO STORE YOUR OCTOPUS? Once opened consume within 3 days. Average Weight 1Kg. Please note that weights can vary from octopus to octopus, so expect a slight variation on the weight of your octopus.

An amazing experience. I wanted to check the cooking and spoke to a wonderful person at Basco - A lovely Spanish woman – who told me me how to eat it! A very important dinner party indeed followed and I'm now the top chef they have ever met! I pretended I had cooked the octopus myself. Yes, I am a bit ashamed of myself but hey ho! You can't take a risk with this sort of thing and therefore Basco is the absolute must place to buy!

Much easier that buying uncooked octopus which is a bit of a faff. This makes it much easier-just griddle and then making pulpo gallega so quick

I used to buy this cooked octopus a lot and it used to be amazing. This time as soon as I opened the vacuum packaging I was struck by a very strong bad smell, clearly the product was off and went straight to a waist bin. Very disappointing, bought it through BascoFineFoods, hope guys you sort this out.
