La Tradicion Cured Manchego Piece 250g Reviews

4.9 Rating 147 Reviews
Read Basco Fine Foods Reviews

Aged for 12 months, this Cured Manchego La Tradicion has an intense nutty flavour with hints of caramel and fruit. Its has a hard, dense paste that comes from the ageing with a dry'ish texture and a complex, savoury finish. This cheese has the 'Queso Manchego D.O.' seal of authenticity, attesting to its high quality and provenance. The 250g pack size makes it ideal for home use and can be served as part of a tapas with or with olives and makes an excellent table cheese with quince jelly (membrillo) or fruit. Eat as an easy tapas with manzanilla sherry or dark, Iberico ham beer. 250g pack/ Once opened keep wrapped in cling film or wax paper. This cheese is made from pasteurised milk.

Great product, but the packaging for a few items is crazy. They came in a massive polystyrene box with loads of ice packs. There are so many more environmentally sensitive packaging solutions. What are you doing guys?

Good evening Sam, Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback to us and your loyal custom to Basco, its very much appreciated on both counts. We care deeply about our carbon footprint and are in fact on the final stages of agreeing on a replacement to the polystyrene (EPS) packaging as it’s the final stage for Basco to be near enough carbon neutral. The reason for the delay is that with so little alternatives on the market which can keep our consignments temperature within the safe zone from leaving ourselves through to transport and eventual delivery to our customers is our priority, however we are confident that we have finally found an alternative that following some extensive tests has performed well and looks brilliant! With regards to the ice packs the ones we use are the most effective in keeping our chilled / frozen products within the required safe zone in core temperature which we haven’t found an ice pack which is as environmentally friendly or as effective as the ones we use, but we are looking to improve this and continue to be open to change. If convenient to yourself I’d love to share with you what we are doing across the business to improve packaging dynamics / usage whilst still protect product rigidity and a safe core temperature that is applauded by our customers each week. Please feel free to call our offices and ask for myself and I would happily walk you through where we are, in sourcing new packaging soloutions and where the future is for Basco! Were always open to feedback and are fully transparent in how Basco operates and any support we can gain to further advance our business, specifically with packaging is greatly appreciated. Yours faithfully Miles BASCO Unit 427C Thorp Arch Estate Wetherby, West Yorkshire LS23 7FG, UK T. + 44 (0) 1937 845 767 E. miles@bascofinefoods.com

Really nice cheese, so many ideas but ended up with just a few biscuits and a little wine. What more could you ask for…perfect!
