We booked this tour as we'd not been to New York before on the advice of a friend. It gave us access to several bus routes covering all of the major tourist points across Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx etc as well as some other attractions. This includes the blue buses; there are others doing the rounds but no apparent difference between the companies. Redemption of your E-Ticket is easy - Madame Tussauds was were we went but there are a number of exchange places where your voucher is swapped for a map and tickets for the buses, the ferry, your chosen city view (We went Empire State and got Top of the Rock tickets separately) and the harbour cruise. You are given headphones as part of the tour and can dial into either pre-recorded commentary or your tour guide in real time. We always listened to the live guide and not only were they all legitimate New Yorkers with loads of personal stories and info. Buses were frequent and we never waited longer than 15 mins for one. In places where it was hard to spot the bus stop, they usually had a rep on hand to guide you to the right place. Empire State tickets are not "skip-the-line" but despite the touts as you get off the buses telling you there is an hour wait, we found inside that there was no queue at all (10am). The ferries get you to Liberty Island where again audio commentary is provided but not "into" the Statue of Liberty - you have to book this locally long in advance and nobody we spoke to had done this. We took an hour to circle the statue and get pics at all angles and then caught the ferry that goes onto Ellis Island; here it has a museum about the history of American Immigration. We found it fascinating and could have spend much longer than the two hours we were there. Our top tips for this product are; - We didn't buy the skip-the-line upgrade for empire state - it felt expensive and we didn't see the point in the top floor. The Observatory was an incredible view. The tout lied about the queue length so check first! - When you get off at the Statue of Liberty stop, they direct you to swap your bus voucher for a Statue ticket so don't walk past blindly like we did just to have to walk past! - Get off in Soho for shopping, Brooklyn for Pizza, ChinaTown for oriental food and near the Guggenheim for Central Park - you can then cross to the American Natural History Museum! All in all, if you just buy one "Ticket" for NYC, this is the one as you see pretty much all the essentials!
