I bought this item to try & protect coconut feeders from big birds like crows & Jackdaws. It hasn’t been 100% successful, hence 4 stars but it does deter them from eating everything and being on the coconuts all the time. They are clever birds and are obviously thinking of ways to get around the chains. It’s fascinating to see their ingenuity at work. The defender does look good, it’s unobtrusive and small birds are comfortable using it and larger birds are definitely wary of the chains.

Advert does not state the feeder does not come with the cage, if anything it describes how the cage keeps the big birds off the feeder. This would be the place it should say the feeder does not come with the cage

The Medusa which I had hoped would deter most large birds, does not bother parakeets, nor the squirrel! Even rooks and jackdaws try their luck!! The parakeets are not very successful at getting food out of my feeders but the mere fact that they are on the feeders deters the small birds. I shall be trying another squirrel proof product which I see on the Ark catalogue, (perhaps as a present request as it is very expensive!)

Brilliant product which has stopped the large birds stealing all the food before the smaller ones got a look in. And they look good hanging in the garden
