Scientists believe this is due to long-term memory being stored in different areas of the brain. In contrast, the formation of new memories relies heavily on the hippocampus, which is the first area of the brain to show symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.Visual prompts such as these cards are exceptionally effective at stimulating older memories in people with Alzheimer's or dementia.They can also help promote communication, either in individuals or in groups; and with 26 different cards in each edition, they can be used again & again!
