I knew there must be a simple remote control for someone with dementia and found one straight away on the internet. I have already other friends to use this site. Thank you.

I brought this 'simple' remote for my Mum who's 81 and was really struggling with the normal TV remote, its funny but the remote is never seen until after you buy a TV yet its the greatest and most frequently used tool for Human computer interaction that there is but you do not know what you will get until you open the box! The ALZ remote was simple to set up, by me and Mum has now used it for just 4 days but tells me its great. The need to scroll through each channel rather than use the EPG service is a small loss to the ease at which she uses the remote now so I doubt I will get any more calls saying the TV's not working.

My mother was continuously getting in a muddle with the TV remote as her dementa progressed, to the point where she forgot how to use it and even when set up so it just needed a one button press, the wrong buttons would be pressed and all hell would break loose. This simple on/off + high/low volume + channel change remote has meant she can now use her TV again. So far so good anyway.

This TV remote is excellent. Simple, large buttons, easy to handle, straight forward & it tuned to the TV with ease. However the volume button has to be pressed repeatedly to increase or decrease the sound level notch by notch, where as the channel button only has to be held down, which means one passes through the channels at great speed. Surely it should be the other way 'round or better still they should both be the same - preferably a press for every change?.

Does what it says. Easy to programme, although it took two goes to ensure every button was correct.. much easier to us for basic operation of a Humax Freesat box and has cured all the hunting to get back to the right channel and mispressed buttons with the Humax remote. Thank you.

I purchased this product for my gran, she has trouble with her hands and finds technical items hard to use, this was great, easy to hold and use, gran is very happy!

My mother is now suffering from dementia and finding the world of buttons, codes, and sequences more and more difficult to cope. She gets great pleasure from the television but more from the DVD's I prepare of folks songs and videos of her native Austria. We recently bought a combi freeview television DVD player in anticipation of a single controller to do the lot. It did but the array of buttons and different modes of operation still presented her with a daunting task to master. The HandleEasy with its limited range of options forced me to distil the actions she needed to perform into as few operations as possible. The HandleEasy was easy to program and my mother is finding it easy to operate. I could have done with one more button, another AV button. Leaving the buttons blank but in different colours would also help. It would be useful if equipment manufactures could agree on a common code for say 10 of the most frequent tasks so programming and design for third party devices could be much easier. This would help the elderly to have the same access as everybody else as legislated under the Equality Act.

In principle a good idea but could be greatly improved by including large program numbers. My 90 year old mother cannot grasp the concept of the program arrows and regularly goes onto the radio programs. Most elderly people only use channels 1 - 5 and only require 5 large buttons with numbers 1 to 5 thereon.
