My Gran has all but lost her short-term memory and really struggles with anything new. Up until the digital switchover in her area, she was quite happy watching her analogue TV with just the five channels. Unfortunately, when we tried to introduce a freeview digi box, she really struggled with the new remote control and trying to remember which buttons to press in order to change channel or simply switch the TV/box on and off. I thought the HandleEasy remote would help because the number of buttons she had to choose from is dramatically reduced. The button sizes are far better. I found it very easy to program too. However, because the channel and volume buttons have the labels abbreviated, she still struggles to remember what they are for and so I have had to label them up for her in the hope that this helps. The On and Off buttons are not a problem because they are clearly labelled. I think this product would be dramatically improved if the manufacturers could full label all the buttons for those users whose memory is almost completely gone. I only gave my Gran this remote this week, and haven't had a chance to find out how she's getting on with it!

Bought for 86 old Mum. Easy to programme and use - buttons are big and easy to press. Unfortunately she does go down below BBC1 into the Radio channels and gets confused. Could do with a HOME button to programme to BBC1. Recommend for all old people as buttons on most handsets are so small.

A very good product however the programming was extremely stressful. Took numerous goes to get some buttons to acknowledge and then they were wrong. Spoke to engineer who said we were doing everything right and he was baffled by the outcome. Anyway, my husband and I don't like to be beaten so we persevered for about an hour and hey presto it worked.
