“Simple layout which would be improved if the call process could be initiated with one key press. Otherwise good product with great battery life and a good cradle which makes charging simple.”

“This is great. My Mum had a Doro flip top phone but was unable to use the phone book or would struggle to input the long numbers. This model we have just shown her how to press the 4 buttons for whichever family member she wants to chat with. It also resembles a portable landline phone when it’s on the charger . So far it is working out well and Mum has been able to phone us from her care home during the lockdown. I did struggle to find this model and think I was lucky to get this one .”

“Am very pleased with this phone so far. It was bought for my dad who is in the early stages of Alzheimers. Contrary to other reviews, I found it straightforward to set up (using the instruction booklet and my memory what old mobiles were like!). Dad is coping well with it just now, the only slight complication being unlocking the keypad when he wants to make a call. But so far so good. And I would say it has given him a new confidence.”

“This mobile is very good for individuals who might be limited of using their fingers. I bought this for my 85 year old mother, whom she can contact the family by just pressing 2 buttons. Would recommend it to anyone who is either a bit limited with fingers and others who might find the latest gadgets and technology to much for them”

“very difficult to top up credit as its not got a keypad cant reply to messages etc more complicated to set up than expected if the dementia person didnt have anyone to set it up for them they would be very confused as to what to do”

Due to the nature of this phone and the type of individuals who will most likely be using it, we do recommend that the phone is set-up by a carer/friend/relative, and also maintained by this person. For example, most SIM cards allow top-ups to be made by calling a number, by logging on online, or by visiting a local shop. This can be done by the carer without needing access to the Doro 580 mobile phone.
