“I discovered this mouthpiece after an email conversation with the CEO of Bari Woodwind in the US. I was surprised that he would take the time to talk to me! The Bari Hybrid is a beautifully made mouthpiece. The quality of the hard rubber part is well above the previous US-made professional mouthpieces I own - and even better than the Selmer I have. The gold metal shank is almost seamlessly blended in giving the mouthpiece a further feeling of class and quality. I must confess, I didn't find it an easy mouthpiece to get a good, controlled tone out of initially. I'd already got a Bari mouthpiece that came with my Trevor James SAR Evo alto, which was a very easy mouthpiece but maybe a little "safe" in terms of tone.I was expecting a lot from the Hybrid. Had I made a mistake? That day, I was so unconvinced, I was ready to return it. After all it wasn't a cheap mouthpiece, although a great price for how it was made. I'm fairly new to the sax, but I pressed on and with a little adapting of my blowing style, I suddenly began to discover what the mouthpiece was capable of. Its nice and bright and very expressive. It responds to dynamics very well and will take you a long way on your tonal journey. Now, a couple of weeks in, I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking to really get an individual style. Just never write it off the first day!”
