Great reeds by Vandoren if you're after a rich and dark 'jazz' sound. Darker than the Javas (red and green) but punchier than the V16. I find the Javas too bright so if you're after a darker sound, stable across the registers, then a ZZ is a great reed. Also try the V16s, but I find these take a bit more work and they're the darkest in the range. I think the ZZ reeds hit the perfect balance tonally in the Vandoren jazz reed line up. (I use a Theo Wanne 'NY Bros 2' 6 HR alto mouthpiece). Make sure you check a Vandoren reed strength chart, because the strengths differ across the range. For example a 2.5 V16 is harder than a 2.5 ZZ. Best thing is to buy and try a selection!
