“This is the richest, smoothest, most indulgent-looking wood flooring I've ever seen. It's the Belgian chocolate of flooring. The Rihanna of flooring. Flooring's Prince of Darkness. Count Dracula probably has this stuff on his castle floor so it won't show the blood. It's the darkest, most hypnotically alluring, exotically luxurious flooring you will ever see in your life... and perhaps beyond. Plus like the dark Count, it seems practically indestructible. The bamboo strands are woven together so densely you can barely mark it. (Not that I'll be trying that on anything but the sample.) Chinese civilisation has been around for 5,000 years: I now realise this is probably because they all have bamboo floors, so their houses survive for centuries. I'm sure a few emperors have ordered this flooring for their palaces, and if they didn't, it was probably the cause of their downfalls. Plus, of course, it's ecologically friendly (bamboo grows FAST as long as those pandas don't get at it) and darkly evocative of its land of origin, the Middle Kingdom, so my wife will love walking on it. Did I mention it's dark and exotic??? All 1.2 tons of it arrived today, and I can't wait to get it on my floor.”
