Horrible Horrible experience that I wish on nobody else. I paid for my kit in Aug, 2022. Got an email that the kit had arrived in the country (USA) in December. I was asked to pay sales tax which I did. The kit was then delivered to me end of Jan, 2023. I was busy and travelling at the time. When I finally got to open the kit in Feb I found that it only contained the 28” wheel which was valued at £58 on the invoice and a battery charger but no universal + max battery worth £749!! As well as no online brake sensors worth £34. All attempts to contact this company have been futile. Just complete radio silence. There’s just no way to get a response. I don’t know if I have been scammed or somebody made a mistake or if the battery comes separately. Customer service is non existent. I usually don’t write reviews but I don’t know what else I can do. After waiting for so long when something like this happens it’s frustrating and the lack of accountability makes you feel helpless. I would never ever do business with a company like this and I wouldn’t recommend it anyone else either.

I have not gotten a chance to try it because when my kit arrived, it was missing several parts. Customer service is barely responsive. When I finally did get a response, I was reassured that the parts would be sent. Upon arrival, even the replacement parts are still missing pieces. I can now no longer get any response from them. I have useless parts sitting here, and I can do nothing about it. Do not get suckered by this company or product!

Joined the "waitlist" in April 2022 and pre-ordered and paid in June. Completed the final order process in August but kept getting reminders to complete the order process !!! Chased for an update in September was provided with a link to place my order !!!! No phone numbers to call so I tried to arrnage a call back but their system wouldn't accept my order number. Tried WhatsApp and e-mail but still no response with an update on my order (it's September now !). Having lost all confidence in the company I decided to cancle my order. Refund was processed surprisingly quickly. Thought that was the end of it but then received an e-mail telling me my order was being manufactured - so I replied saying I had cancelled. However I kept getting order updates ad eventually telling me my order had been dispatched ! Kit was actually delivered on 21st December despite me telling them several times my order was cancelled !!! Contacted Swytch to advise them they had delivered my order by mistake they told me to return the kit for a refund - I told them they had already refunded me - you couldn't deal with a more incompetent company ! Once they finally realised they e-mailed me asking for some dates to collect the kit. When I hadn;t replied within 2 hours (I was working) they chased me !!! They takes days if not weeks to reply but expect a reply in hours !!!! Do not use this company - if you are here looking at review to decide whether to use Swytch - please don;t - I dread to think what their customer service would be like if the kit was faulty. Save your money and put it towards a purpose built E-Bike.

Like many other reviewers, I too have experienced horrendous customer service. I ordered my kit in April 2022 and as of today (Jan 2023), I have still not received my kit and radio silence from Swytch for the delay. Yet, somehow they are still claiming they can deliver in approx. 4 months. I expect nothing from Swytch and advise other's to look elsewhere. Sad, as it was a promising option. - from Toronto, ON

I have been very patient and accepted your "reasons" for delays, but you have worn my patience out. I have received 3 dates that my kits were at the Local Fulfillment Center with the latest date showing a delivery date of Dec 28-Jan 7. Yesterday, the Fulfillment Center's arrival date changed again to Jan 10. No phone numbers for customer service and no response to emails. I called the warehouse in the UK Tuesday, Jan 10, for a refund for two kits.

Finally got my kit after 8 months of waiting and they've sent the wrong charging cable so can't charge battery. This company is incompetent. I would not recommend.

Almost got it. Seems my kit was out for delivery yesterday but never made it. Managed to WhatsApp someone last night, who was helpful, but no comms since. I am a Procurement professional, used to a range a customer service levels . I fear that despite Swytch having a good product (I think, although haven't tried it) I fear the poor customer service will bring this company down. Not sure if it is infrastructure issues, lack of training or lack of understanding about the customer experience. Things will need to improve if they are going to build a loyal base. Update - So having heard nothing from Swytch, I finally get a notification that UPS have the kit and will deliver next week. Undoubtedly Swytch will drop a happy clappy response to this to say it is on its way. Too bad it's too late for Xmas, too bad they hid when there was a chance to get it on an express delivery and too bad that I will never recommend such an amateurish company. You really need to sort your customer service out Further update. No delivery from UPS, now they saw "date to be advised". Absolutely no contact from Swytch. I have emailed them continuously and have now asked them to cancel the order. I don't expect them to respond to this anytime soon either. I have never known a company to act in such a shoddy manner. Caveat emptor - they will take your money easily but after that forget any sort of customer service.

no communication during the delays. I have reached out multiple times to get an update but heard nothing. i understand challenges and have been patient, but they need to prioritize communication. Im 80% sure this is a fraudulent company, 20% of my patience remaining.

I have the Brompton Swytch kit. It comes with a radially laced front (drive) wheel, which I have since learnt is an unsuitable design - the radial spokes have insufficient bracing against the hub to support the torque. As a result, all of my spokes rapidly became so loose that the wheel wobbles. This is a serious safety issue and I would advise any potential customer to avoid this product. NOTE: This review applies specifically to the radial lace pattern. Other aspects of the kit are quite good, but this major flaw overrides them.

First they sent me an English-size 26" wheel (I live in Canada, and my bike wheels are 26" in diameter, not >27" as is the case in England) and it took quite a while for the replacement to arrive. When I installed the replacement wheel and the rest of the kit following their manuals, the motor seemed to be running backward when I pedalled with the power on. It even threw an experienced cyclist friend to the ground when he tried it. My friend has installed 2 other Swytch kits, and we spent a lot of time trying everything our combined bike repair experience suggested. The motorized wheel will not turn under its own power. I have asked for prepaid return shipping for the 2 large boxes, and for a refund, but nothing of consequence from them yet.

My Swytch pro has been a total trial from the moment it was fitted. Ive been a cyclist and competent bike mechanic for 30 years and found the kit a doddle to fit, quick , clean and simple. But that was the end of my enjoyement of this product. For the first few rides it worked well and only occasionally behaved strangely, juddering, unespected loss of power and strange squealing noise from the motor hub. So winter came and went and I started using the bike again but this time the issues became more frequent until the bike was no longer fit or safe to ride. The motor would come and turn off without warning , almost causing a potentially deadly accident whilst crossing a fast busy road which resulted in a car screeching to a hault and sounding its horn at me as the motor had failed to initiate as expected as I tried to cross the junction. After this I sent an email complaining about the issue to swytch and the dreaded email thread began! Swtch sent email after email requesting detailed description and videos of the issue which I patently obliged, and with every email there was a delay of between 4 and 7 days which resulted in the issue not being addressed for several months! After sending me a number of replacement part ( again each time taking over a week to arrive ) the issue still hadnt been fix. Eventually they sent me a new controller and battery pack which fixed the problem for a month or so but then the problem returned. So I purchased a second hand controller from ebay and that fixed the problem almost entirely. So I decided to contact Swytch again and asked to purchase a spare controller for when the current one breaks and leaves me stranded miles from home. Easy right? Not easy at all. First order paid via a link sent to me but then nothing, then more emails asking for more information and address, followed by an email stating they couldn't find my order!? So I opened a dispute with paypal to get my money back and tried again to order a spare controller.....6 weeks later and another 3 or 4 emails they have now said they are out of stock! 2 years nearly of owning a swytch kit and totally regret buying it. So many hours wasted trying to sort out something that should be so simple and in fact should never have been necessary in the first place if the product had been fit for purpose in the first place. Long story short DO NOT BUY A SWYTCH KIT!

I'm 81, have raced and toured for most of my life. I still cycle almost every day, usually around a 5 mile slightly hilly circuit through lovely country lanes. I have arthritic knees and very painful back-pain, which feels at it's most comfortable when I ride. So having got my position just right on my old racing bike, I did not want to risk buying a new e-bike which did not suit me, and anyway, what's the point of buying another bike when you already have one you like?. I therefore, I ordered the Pro kit in January and it arrived in May. Fitting it took less than an hour after, widening the dropouts slightly (using a grinding wheel was very quick, but you have to be very careful not to overdo it). The performance has exceeded my expectations. I have it permanently set on 60 % assistance (the minimum) and no speed limit, which is really for off-road use, but you don't get that sudden drag feeling when you crest a hill. I think the 15 mph speed limit legislation was probably devised by a committee of non-cyclists, because I am not travelling any faster than when I was young and fit. Initially, the battery feels heavy on the bars and some of my friends have made brackets to lower it, but I soon got used to it and do not find it a problem. My only (slight) complaint is the price of the extras. The Pro kit is £124 more than the Eco kit and the black wheel is £50 more than the silver one. Having bought black rims in the past, I know that they are only slightly more expensive than silver. Since reaching 80, I was getting more and more aches and pains and loosing muscle strength, and cycling was becoming an unpleasant chore; but this has renewed my enjoyment and enthusiasm, knowing that the ride will be as hard or easy as I want to make it according to how I feel on the day. I can get 30 miles normal use, and much further if I am cycling with friends who are slower, so I can save the battery by switching the motor off on the flat and down hills. There aren't many panaceas in life, i.e. you think you have found the answer and then you find a problem – but the Swytch kit is everything and more than I wished for. .

After more than 1 year's wait expectations for the Brompton gen 1 touring kit were high. Initially everything seemed to be working fine. Not for long though. On pretty much every ride the battery will shut off after 15-20 minutes of riding and becomes increasingly erratic after that. Support offered very little help. Since the kit is no longer offered I am out of luck. The offered fix: buy a new one. This kit has cost me more than 6 USD per mile. In the mean time the marketing emails keep coming in. My conclusion: overmarketed, under engineered and under supported. Very disappointed.

Received my Brompton e-bike conversion kit which was somewhat delayed by the Covid shutdowns in China, no fault of Swytch. I ordered the earlier 250kWh battery that looks like a black brick on your handlebar. The newer version is smaller and sleeker looks to be a better choice. Assembly took about 90 minutes in several simple steps: --Remove front wheel and tire; reinstall tire/tube on Swytch motorized wheel. --Install wheel and torque nuts. Make sure you get the lips on the torque washers inserted correctly in the fork ends. --Fit pedal sensor ring. I used the Brompton round unit that secures neatly onto the crank arm. The location on the non-drive side is exposed; others have installed it on the more protected drive side but I had no room for the sensor. --Fit sensor. Longer zip ties helped here. --Fit battery handlebar holder. An accessory mount is available for the Brompton luggage carrier but I opted against it. --Fit wiring. No real issues other than the geometry of the sensor ring and sensor both of which require some fiddling to get right and secure. Riding? Once you charge up and customize the settings, the bike performs very well. I found the lowest power setting to be optimal. Given that boost power is determined by rpm and not torque, your riding style will change... you will find your pedaling cadence to be driven by how much power you need from the motor. Optimal Uses? This conversion makes the Brompton an even better commuter... you will arrive at work sweat free. I took it out on a shopping trip and found the climb at the end (a slog up a steep grade with a grocery pack) had turned into an easy push. Flexibility? While the kit adds some weight to the bike, it's not anywhere near what other ebikes weigh and you retain your Brompton portability. Folding is not a problem. Buying an accessory frame handle strap (non-Swytch) makes it easy to carry. You can remove the battery and front wheel to quickly reconvert it back to an analog bike. Recommendation? I recommend this for any owner of an analog Brompton who is interested in ebikes and uninterested in the heavy investment in an entirely new cycle. It's an elegant solution.

I have 2 kits. Both purchased over a year ago. Fitted both bikes and put them away until our vacation July 2022. Troubleshooting and swapping reveals that the handlebar mount/ control unit is faulty. I have many open service tickets but no one is answering. These kits were over $1100 US and I can’t get a response from Swytch. Anyone home?

Brompton Kit. The concept is brilliant, and probably a great way to experience electric biking on a larger bike. However, it is flawed with poor quality parts. The motor itself has a significant rolling resistance, I have been in contact with the support team who assure me that this is normal after viewing the video I sent them of the wheel barely freewheeling 2 revolutions (this is after a good running in period). For comparison the Brompton electric motor freewheels the same as a normal wheel. Why worry about the motor resistance, well the battery range is optimistic and with this motor, running out of juice is not something I relish. Their statement of having no drag is misleading! I cycle 6km a day for work, and if I don't charge it every day the battery starts dieing around 10 Km, no where near the 30km range it is supposed to have. This is at moderate speed and level 3 on the assist. My main niggle is the handle bar battery mount, if I dont clean the contacts on a weekly basis, then I get issues with motor sounding like a bag of bolts and loosing power, as it looses one of the drive signals to the motor. To be honest it is a waste on a Brompton as I always use a bag and can easily slip a battery pack into that. The customer service is good, and I have no problems with the company. Would I buy again? No. We have another Brompton to convert, and I have subsequently found other retailers offering conversion kits at a better price. In fact I think we will just order a kit from china and convert it ourselves.

The gear is really great, I use it with Bromton almost every day. Almost everyrhing is ok, just small comments: 1) there is a certain instable motor movement at some speed = the motor is kicking, one has to stop stepping on pedals. 2) using the battery, there is no place for bag on holder. Overall, very good investment :-)
