I ride an Electra beach cruiser and have a huge hill as part of my commute. I didn't want to have to change my bike but pushing it up the hill every day was getting annoying. Then along came Swytch! The motor is powerful enough to get me up the hill, and the battery bag is subtle enough that it just looks like a regular bag on the handlebars. Nothing is taken away from the style of the bike, and nobody realises that it is an e-bike until I breeze past them on the hill!

As a part time Deliveroo rider, I've put this thing through the mill and it has never let me down. It's helped my girlfriend enjoy cycling more and given her more confidence on the road.

The kit is great and was easy to install. I have had a few issues along the way but the guys from Switch have been a great support.

Hi Lenny, The email came up with the same format as an answer to a request for support, with a list of links and solutions to problems. No problem...here is our review for the Swytch super backer status! Swytch 700c 50 mile kit We have had our Marin San Rafael hybrid bikes for about six years at our house in France. However, due to the pretty difficult hills around there, we had hardly used them. The conversion kit appeared to provide a really good solution, to using existing good bikes, with little wear and tear, without going down the ‘another new bike’ scenario! We had read a few reviews and seen some information on the net regarding the kits...but in the end we took a chance when we bought the two conversion kits. However, we have not been disappointed in any way at all! Great things 1. The kits arrived post free to our house in France. 2. Customer service re. a change of delivery address was good. 3. We took our time fitting the kits, and in all it took about 1.5 hours for both bikes. I had seen some reviews that suggested using sugru as an adhesive for the sensor, and had bought some in anticipation. That was a good thing, as it was needed for our conversion. The adhesive has been excellent. Adapting the sensor was easy. The whole conversion was without problems. 4. The power is easily adjusted, and in conjunction with gear changes, optimises the power available. 5. When we did have a minor problem, we had good support, and the issue was resolved very quickly. 6. We have cycled quite a bit since converting our bikes, and the power is delivered efficiently when you need it. This has included category 4 climbs. 7. The bikes don’t look like they are running on electric power! 8. The overall weight of the bike is considerably less than a pure electric bike. 9. Easy to fit. 10. Magic carpet experience. We would recommend it to anyone who wants Ann exsisting bike electrified 😀 Peter Norton And Julie Roberts

Y'know, there was a time when my Brompton spent most of its life sitting by the door looking miserable and gathering dust. Then I Swytch'd it on... It now forms a crucial part of my daily journey to work. It's only ten miles a day, there and back again, with a fifteen mile public transport link in the middle each way, but it's quicker, more reliable and more fun than either the local bus service or a car share. The Swytch kit was easy to fit. It arrived at three in the afternoon and I had it running just after four (and that included ten minutes looking for a nut to replace one I'd lost then, as often happens, subsequently found once I'd located a replacement!) It runs well. I've only done a couple of hundred miles or so on it so far but I'm quite impressed. It irons out the hills and those are something we have in plentiful supply in Scotland. The close gearing on my Brompton means I still have to do some leg work to extract every last bit of assistance out of the controller but I can happily coast uphill at 12mph rather than being out of the saddle and mashing the pedals. It seems to cope well with wet weather, another thing I can guarantee subjecting it to...still to find out how the power pack likes the cold! Gripes? Just a couple. I bought the inline brake cutout switches but didn't fit them. I don't think they're necessary, although I might see if I can use them to add brake light functionality to my rear light. The strap on the battery pack is too short to use over the shoulder. The light on the controller/battery pack is not particularly effective and it might have been better to have some functionality on the pack such as a Go-pro/Garmin/etc mount given that it takes up so much valuable handlebar space. I'm really glad I made the Swytch and I'm already thinking about Swytching another bike so I can make my full commute on two wheels...

Wow, this kit has everything you need to convert a regular pedal bike, in my case a 26" wheel mountain bike, into smooth, powerful workout/commuting machine! It's very well thought out and was very easy to assemble, assuming you have experience taking wheels off, adjusting brakes, etc. What I really appreciate is I can remove the battery and swap the front wheel out in less than 5 mins and have my lightweight mountain bike back whenever I chose to. The workout potential of this bike is huge, with my kit installed I can power this bike on road at speeds of 25 mph and cover vast distances simultaneously, it's very inspiring. I can't wait to try out the new lighter battery, the original one is a little heavy, but still a great performer. -thanks, SwytchBike, Mark Gilbert, FL, USA.

I love my Swytch Brompton kit. I use it in a Decathlon BTwin folding bike and works perfectly. It's very helpful because I have a lot of climbs and with Swytch is easier to make them. Batery pack is a little heavy but with new kit that problem will be solve.

i have the 50 mile swytch kit fitted to a vodoo marasa the fitting took a couple of hours, only because i took my time to fit it properly, it is an excellent bit of kit and pulls my weight up big hills no problem. swytchbike as a company has come on leaps and bounds since i ordered the kit there were a few teething problems as with any start-up company but i would highly recommend them

Since converting my folding Dahon bike with the Swytch kit I’ve found myself going further and choosing to ride more often; in the last I’d find that I might choose to take the bus over cycling when my destination was a certain distance - that radius has expanded a lot now. Once the new smaller control/battery units comes in I’m sure I’ll be choosing to cycle even more (as I’ll have more spare rucksack space for shopping etc). Their support is first rate and I LOVE show easy to use it is - everyone that’s tried it has felt the same.

A very professional but approachable company and customer service. All my interactions have been both positive and productive. Would definitely recommend Swytch as both a company and a product.

I'm so glad Swytch is bringing out a much improve and extended milage battery pack. Now I can cover my 20 miles round trip to work every day much faster. At work I park my bike outside the building, remove the battery pack and store it on top of my locker. At home I park my bike in the back garden take off the battery pack and charge for next days use. Its as simple as that every day.

I first heard about the Swytch start-up in 2017 and finally decided to take the risk on Indigogo in January 2018, then just over a year later my “50 mile” kit arrived. I have to confess that several missed promised delivery dates gave me some doubts. But the wait was worthwhile, this is brilliant. I fitted the kit to my steel-framed touring bike (Edward Warner, Reynolds 531 frame for those who love details). I had bought this bike second hand in the early 80s, when I was a student in London, but had not been using it much recently. Fitting the Swytch kit did need a little bit of work, but not much. The Swytch 700C wheel is a tiny bit smaller than the ‘vintage’ 27 ¼ it replaced, fortunately the brakes had enough adjustment to allow for this, and a new tyre and tube was needed. The quick release forks had to be filed to get the wheel to fit, I had to swap the torque washer on the lead side, and put a spacer in for the pedal sensor, all very easy once I had decided it was possible. It all fits and works. I was very pleased with my first test ride, despite the cold wind. No need to get off and push up hills. I was a bit disappointed at how slow 15mph is when the assistance cuts out (but I have since found that this is easy to override). I had drop handlebars and the extra weight of the battery pack made it feel a bit top-heavy and unstable. I put flat bars on and this cured things (or I got used to it). First longer ride was 14 miles each way, a 407 ft rise and 719 ft drop (and of course the other way round on the way back) there was still juice left but the meter suggested not much. I have not tried a longer run, I’m sure I’d get further on flatter land. The bike has been great, I use it to get into the nearby town and out into the local countryside for the sheer pleasure. The kit only let me down once, at the bottom of a long hill when it switched off and wouldn’t go back on. I did have the Hall by-pass lead with me, but had forgotten that this was what could happen. After I fitted the lead it works perfectly again, although I wonder if it is as smooth and if the range might be cut. I would suggest fitting it in the first place, as I'm not holding my breath for the firmware update. Anyway I now have a superb ebike that has transformed my well-loved old bike, and it has cost a great deal less than buying new (and I probably would never have done that). I live about 2 miles from a town, and I use the bike now instead of being lazy and driving. The long hill on the way back is now easily conquered. I am very pleased with it and highly recommend the Swytch kit, especially if you want to keep a bike you have. Well done Swytch!
