I ordered the "Second Generation" Swytch system because the battery was smaller and supposedly could be installed vertically or horizontally. Apparently, there was a problem with the vertical attachment so Swytch went ahead and shipped the original horizontal attachment and promised to send the other as soon as the problem was corrected. We waited and wrote, waited and wrote, finally we were told to just install it with the original horizontal attachment BUT my wife's handlebar is already to full of stuff so there is no room. I wanted the vertical so I could get it install under her seat. Now we never hear back from Swytch when we write, we have never gotten the correct piece which, as I recall, we paid extra for and the whole system just sits in its original boxes taking up space.

Delivery was delayed, then a faulty controller led to lots of (delayed) email chains before a replacement controller was sent. Not the best start but once up and running l have loved that little bit of extra help for my commute on those tricky parts. If you want to carry on cycling over 60 its superb. We have moved to one car as this bike is now my retirement transport. If you want to put your feet up and push a button or go 40 miles its not for you. Extra fitness for me, easy to remove battery and not as visible for theft as the more expensive ebikes. the sensor on the pedals can be temperamental and only a little off gives you poor glitchy power delivery so this is other area in addition to comms which I think would improve package. All in all nearly a year in its a purchase i haven't regretted. lets see what 2024 has to offer !

Uncertain delivery, poor customer service in terms of availability and ease of use. Good performance of product.

I use my bike so much more now that I have a swytch kit. I can pop to the shops with the battery off and then put it on to get my shopping back home up the hill. I can put a toddler on the back and still keep up (ish) with my teenagers on a bike ride. They were quick to replace my handlebar switch when it failed. Downsides: The range isn't as far as I hoped it would be. I bought the bigger battery but even on the flat and minimum power it's about half what I thought I could get. Also the new handlebar switch with one button is a bit of a pain. I can only go up a power, or have to click five times (right round the numbers) to go down one notch.

. . . provided a torque arm accessory showing how knowledgeable they are about the ewheel forces - especially front carbon forks !!

I have the old battery pack. This is very heavy on the front of the bike and is not well balanced. I also had loads of issues trying to sort out on my wife's bike but despite being sent replacement parts it did not work reliably. Upgrading to a new lighter battery pack is incredibly expensive - hence the low rating

Overall the product was easy to install and use. I bought the swytch for my wife's bike. She had recently purchased a bike that fit her small size but wanted assistance during rides on hills. The complaint about the swytch comes from the extra battery weight high up on the handle bars. For a smaller person this at times during low speed riding this cause steering issues and twice caused her to lose balance and fall. Everything else is good. There are design compromises with any add-on products to convert a non EV bike.

I agree with many of the comments posted. The Swytch is fantastic, especially for those of us who are getting on in years & find climbing hills is no longer possible without an electric assist. I am thrilled I can keep my comfy bike with this simple add-on; it allows me to get to places via bike that were impossible before; pure freedom, pure joy. I had a long wait for the kit during covid, communications were frustrating during the covid period, but things improved after the covid delays eased. I did receive a faulty sensor, but Swytch came through with a replacement sensor & I am a happy camper. The pedal sensor does move around with vibrations, despite their “cinch strap” & glue pad”, so I have put a bit of sticky-tack around it to both hold it a bit more securely against inevitable road bumps & vibrations, while also allowing me to nudge it, to where it lights up again; this holds it there a bit better than the strap & glue pad have done on their own. You do still have to check the light is engaged from time to time, or you may find yourself riding without the expected “assist”.😉 I have yet to test how the battery does in really cold, wintry weather, so can’t comment yet on that aspect. I, too, would like to have the second (back-up) battery & especially the lighter smaller version just released, but it’s a bit too pricey for me. Maybe in future, they will offer a better discount to existing customers.🤞

I was an initial investor in the very first Swytch set and also have a second more modern set with the smaller battery. One is now on a hybrid style bike and the newer one, on one of my Bromptons. Overall I am happy, hence buying two sets. But the drive from the pedals is very unreliable to the point that I have now removed them from both bikes and just use the thumb drive, this actually makes the bikes illegal in the UK which is not ideal. The wait after ordering is ridiculous and the customer communications from Swytch is terrible. However, if you don't mind using the thumb drive and can get hold of a working set they are a joy to use and the battery lasts well.

Me kit works perfect but my husband has got some issues. Batterys long as indicated in flat terrains only. Generally speaking we are happy with the kits and we ride them frequently.

I have fitted two kits one to a mountain bike and then several months later one to a folding bike. The second was easier because of the experiance with the first but bothe were fairly quick to do. The most difficult part is fitting the pedal sensor and I had to go back to the mountain bike to correct the fit after what I learnt from the folding bike install. I find the little panel for adjusting the assist ( 1 - 5 ) essential to use frequently and I cannot understand how anyone could manage without it. Especially in anywhere as hilly as where I live.

The battery does not last as many kms as it should plus I need to adjust/move the thing with the red light quite often to make sure the bike works as it should.

Good product, effective. Delivery too long Control of power output not good. Need to lean over to battery, switch not definite enough, red lights not bright enough on a sunny day. Need to take eyes off road for too long. But all told, works very well and good value for.money

Goo points :Easy installation on my usual bike, good performance (+/- 45 kms for one charge). Easy to use . Possible use without the engine . Bad points : Communication with your company No french speaking. Very Bad information on the moment of delevery which took a long Time without précise information. And last but not least ,The position of the very heavy original battery on the handlebar IS not only incomfortable but Can be really dangerous when the speed increases (very fast and violent Moving of the front fork). And the Price of your so called bargain update with a lighter one much to expensive. That's all folks . To be used integrally ( I insisté).
