I had a very different expectation for Swytch bike. After a long and tedious install, the unit operates, however I am disappointed in the level of "assist it provides" I would not recommend this product to my friends. It doesn't assist that much really. As an older person in their 60's it was challenging to put together and did not actually assist in a fashion that I find acceptable. Next time I would chose an electric bike over the Switch bike. :0( If you buy this product, have a clear understanding of what you want and what this product offers.

1) Not all parts were shipped with the original order, two months receiving the correct parts and the process was not simple. 2) The wheel is out of balance and the front brake will not operate correctly as it grabs and bounces. 3)The supplied battery is supposed to be good for 15K but will not last that long even on the lowest power setting. That size battery is worthless in my opinion. The overall riding experience is as expected when working properly and you don't have to brake often. Installation was as described.

Battery did not last and website is not easy to source a new one. If the website was better then I may consider replacing the battery - at present my bike is useless.

Battery life is poor. Motor rubs on the front fork of my Brompton. Tolerances are so tight, this must be a major issue for others. Motor often ‘pulses’ rather than clean, even pull. Given how long I waited these points leave me feeling a little let down and probably wouldn’t recommend to other Brompton users

If I had known it was going to take as long as it did I would have probably gone to another supplier. When they eventually did arrive (well after the use window that year) the actual kit was really good but by then we had gone through the summer period when the most use would have been.

i was pleased with my Swytch kit upgrade until it started miss-behaving power coming in and out unpredictably and sometimes difficult to turn on at all. I suspect the power controller to be faulty. what would be the cost of replacing this part?

It took nearly one year get the kit that to in parts. Product is okay and easy to install, but the company customer service is terrible. The biggest issue for me is the battery doesn’t last ling - barely get 6-8km on full charge. The battery level indicator on display and the battery itself doesn’t match . The display level fluctuates as you ride making it very unreliable.

I purchased a Swytch kit to fit on my Brompton which I use as a commuter option. I travel between Oxford and London. I was enjoying all the benefits of the kit. Unfortunately the bus service that I use from Oxford (Oxford Tube) no longer allow anything electric on their service. Fire Risk! I have argued with them about this but it is an increasing trend. Beware. It’s not the fault of the kit but it is a problem. Lots of buildings are now not allowing electric bicycles and scooters into storage.

Summary:- This review is from my personal experience only. The product reliability is very poor. The battery located in the wrong place making the bike more unstable. The motor should probably be located in the rear wheel. The installation was substantially more difficult than had been suggested. If I ever convert another bike I won’t use Swytch. Detail:- The below is my personal opinion, based on my experience only. I don’t have any information from anyone else’s experience. Reliability. We have received our Swytch Kit in October 2021. In September 2023, it stopped working and according to Swytch “your ECO/PRO kit has now reached the end of its life”. It has covered around 250 miles and in reality it would have been cheaper to cover the distance in an Uber. Swytch want me to upgrade to a new kit and have given some money off, but given the reliability of the first I am reluctant to throw good money after bad. I am going to cut my losses. Location of the battery. Having the battery on the handlebars makes the bike much more unstable, particularly if you have a short stem. In my opinion the battery should be located much lower down and on the frame of the bike note the handlebars. I suggest below the cross bar. You will note that the bike delivery riders in the cities have this arrangement. Location of the motor The motor is housed in the front wheel. Having a direct drive motor in the wheel is a good thing as it means that you get all the 250 Watts and you don’t lose any power through the chain mechanism. However, I would note that the majority of the bike delivery riders have the motor in the back wheel. Installation. It was suggested that the installation would be easy and in theory it should be, however in my case the front wheel did not fit in the slot in the front forks and this required some time with a file and careful measuring. I overcame the difficulty eventually. Delivery from order. The order delivery time was quoted as 10 weeks (from my memory). It did take that sort of time. We ordered on a nice summer day, 10 weeks on the seasons had obviously changed, hence we were not able to use the Swytch bike other than for testing until the spring. All of that is obvious and as the company indicated, however I should have thought of the implications of the 10 week delivery at ordering. My mistake.

Fitted the device no problem (you may need more than one pair on hands). However when I went to use it the motor does not work. I have followed the instructions to test the swytch kit and nothing works and the hub doesn't spin . I raised it with customer services who took 2 weeks to come back to me only to tell me to perform the tests again and tell them the outcome. I went through all this again went back to them, came back after a week just to tell me to fill in an online form. Very angry and sad as it isnt exactly cheap and I just have a bunch of scrap metal attached to my bike that doesn't work.

I ordered my swytch bike kit in September 2022. It is now June 2023 and I have not received my swytch bike kit. They have excuse after excuse as to why I’m not receiving it, but at this point I just want a refund! If you live in the US, I recommend you not order from this company. I hope I get my money back. It was almost $800 that I am out of because I don’t think I’m ever going to receive my swytch kit. Do not order from these people!

I owned Swytch kit for just over 2 years now. My honest advise is do not buy Swytch. Go elsewhere. My purchase (The Brompton Conversion Kit) developed problems after 4 months of use. It took 6 months to address those problems and I did not get any warranty extension, despite not being able to use the product for more than half of the warranty time. 4 months after the repair I got the same issue. Swytch told me that my Warranty has expired and refused to repair under Warranty. Long wait again and only after legal actions taken I received battery replacement, which failed after 5 months!!! Now I am waiting for over two months to receive the controller, which was under 6 months extended warranty. APPALLING!!! Why 2 stars – well, if the kit works it is great to ride. However, these kits are made in China and there is probably no quality control check at all. So, if you are lucky and it works, then it is great addition to your bike at reasonable cost. Otherwise, waste of money and time. I think SwytchBike also suffers from suppliers side which is down to either Brexit issues or poor choice of supplier (probably in attempt to cut the costs). You can see that from number of complaints about late deliveries (and I am not saying late by few days, or even weeks… it is months). It looks th SwytchBike ey do not hold much (if any) spare parts, so if you (like myself) have issue with one component you are stuck for months with unusable kit. I have been to their office/shop – it is a small warehouse, barely 50-80 sq meters. Customer service would definitely be 1 star, or even zero star. SwytchBike actually lies to us – on the website they state ReviewsIO as 4.8 stars. It is actually 2.9 stars, and going down. TrustPilot is 3.2 and going down. From reviews you will see that SwytchBike lie about delivery and repairs time. They lied to me so many times. Judging by my experience, my advice would be to stay clear from Swytch and look elsewhere for electric bike solution. I do not know how TrustPilot works, but I would be happy to be contacted and exchange experiences and give more advises.

First they sent me an English-size 26" wheel (I live in Canada, and my bike wheels are 26" in diameter, not >27" as is the case in England) and it took quite a while for the replacement to arrive. When I installed the replacement wheel and the rest of the kit following their manuals, the motor seemed to be running backward when I pedalled with the power on. It even threw an experienced cyclist friend to the ground when he tried it. My friend has installed 2 other Swytch kits, and we spent a lot of time trying everything our combined bike repair experience suggested. The motorized wheel will not turn under its own power. I have asked for prepaid return shipping for the 2 large boxes, and for a refund, but nothing of consequence from them yet.

Terrible experience- I purchased two conversion kits- mine started acting up less than a year after purchase. Took their Customer service department over a month to get with me. Replaced Battery and Control Unit. Now the new unit and my wife unit both start running away on us. When you restart you have nothing until the unit decides it wants to work again. When it runs away the brake lever disconnects do not work, you manually have to reach up and turn the unit off while its speeding down the road. Sorry I ever purchased these kits. I started a new ticket twice on this new problem and its been over two weeks and I haven't heard from them.--Oh I do get about 3 emails a week trying to sell me a conversion kit "ha"

I was really excited to get my Swytch kit. Sure the delivery was quite delayed but I figure that was out of their control (tho as others have pointed out, the communication around this could have been a bit more proactive). First impressions were that it was a quality bit of kit, and fitting it to my bike was easy. It works well (although there's a bit of a lag between starting to peddle and the assistance kicking in, but you learn to accommodate this). I can see why people like it and for many people I imagine it's ideal (a friend of mine loves his). However, I ride on busy UK roads and only want assistance going up hills, and occasionally on the flat, so want to change the assistance level frequently, and it's design makes this difficult and potentially dangerous. This is because to change the 'assist level' (that is, to change much help it gives you) you have to take one hand off the handlebars (and your eyes off the road) to press buttons on the power pack, which is attached to the bikes handlebars. And these buttons are small, and hidden underneath the waterproof battery cover, so you might have to take several stabs to get the assistance level you want, especially if you're wearing gloves. Not ideal, especially on a bumpy road with traffic all around. The other issue I have with it is having the weight of the battery hung from the handlebars. The bike already has the Swytch electric motor in the hub of the front wheel and with the weight of battery added to it it makes the steering heavy and ponderous, so any manoeuvres become more difficult. This design may be okay for people who never want to change the level of assistance, especially if on a bike that was already heavy and they're going in a straight line on flat surfaces, say people in Holland maybe. But for real life use on UK roads on a light bike, for me at least, it's not good. I want the battery slung low and the controls directly to hand (such as a twist grip changer) so I can keep my hands on the bars and my eyes on the road. Hopefully Swytch will offer these options in the near future

I placed my order in July 2020 with a delivery time expected 12-14 weeks. Understandable given the business model. However, this did not happened. Delivery was postponed several times with absolute lack of clarity regarding the whole situation. The only email I received after the first one related to the order was the one saying I needed to pay 20% tax plus 5% import charges. After 6 long months of frustration (in which I contacted the customer service many times) and excuses they finally admitted they messed up. There was an administrative error with the order. I am not sure if this involved only my order but I did not expect such lack of committment from them. Anyway, after many emails exchanged and waste of precious time, they finally confirmed the order was ready to be collected by the courier. Of course no tracking number provided just a vague message saying “if you don’t hear from the courier within seven days ....” I received the kit a couple of days ago and I haven’t tried it yet as in the meantime I have sold my bike... Awful and very stressful experience. I will definetly not make the same mistake again.
