Overall this works well and is a good alternative to buying an electric bike. However we didn’t find it easy to set up despite my partner being skilled with bike mechanics. Once the hub is installed it is not simple to interchange back to the original wheel which I prefer for non-hilly journeys/hybrid rides. It also does not come with a tyre/inner tube which is OK as it doesn’t promise this but it surprised me.

The price and general plug and play design of the switch kit made it appealing. It also seems like the MAX was a good choice as far as battery range for my typical commute, which is around 18.5 km one way. The kit is light and when installed with battery pack adds a little more than 2 kilos to my bike's base weight, which is one real problem I have with many dedicated E-bikes. I had a fair amount of trouble with the hub on my particular bike as the fork wouldn't clear and I had to replace the fork, as well as grind the axle on the kit down to fit in the new drop outs. So the kit is not universal, nor is there an engineered solution to every problem, just some DYI instruction. The troubleshooting service was fairly responsive, and Swytch offered to compensate me for the purchase of the new fork. I'm happy with the general function of the kit now that it's working. There's a pedal rotations lag between starting to pedal and the kit's providing boost, but it's fairly fluid and intuitive. I've purchased (but not yet installed) the optional brake sensors, so there's the same second or so lag after stopping pedaling before the boost cuts out. That's somewhat more disconcerting, but understandable in a kit with the sensors it has/doesn't have. A couple of sore points. Range is significantly lower than advertised. I rarely use more than a level 3 boost, and typically stick to 2 (out of 5), but never make it all the way to work on a charge. That is, the battery rated at 30KM doesn't make it to 20KM without crapping out. I'm stuck with bringing my charger to work and back with me to refresh during the day. I also notice that even a few days idleness means the battery pack loses significant charge, which makes me nervous about the longevity of the batteries inside. Second, both the computer and the battery itself have level indicators, which rarely match. The computer will show no battery left (and assist does indeed disappear) while the battery lights are still showing 2 or 3 dots (out of 5). Can't tell if this might be a problem with the computer "protecting" the battery pack from overdrawing. I purchased the throttle, which I regret, as I never use it.

Having decided that this company was the one to use to enable me to transform our folding bicycles we firstly sent pictures and details of the bikes to them. They confirmed that their kits would fit them perfectly as would the seat post adapters. The battery holder does not fit the handlebars nor does the saddle tube adapter, it’s is too small to fit the tube. We upgraded to the led display and control panel but this is also a disappointment for to change down a power setting one has to completely cycle up the settings before it returns to a lower one, this is quite a distraction whilst cycling. On the plus side the motor is quiet and powerful and the battery appears to hold its charge well although we have yet to travel far enough to determine how powerful it really is in normal conditions. I can provide photographs of the above points should the company wish to follow this up but having already sent them photographs of the bikes in the first place I’m not sure they will study them in the detail required now that they have sold two kits that that they confirmed would be suitable.

I was an initial investor in the very first Swytch set and also have a second more modern set with the smaller battery. One is now on a hybrid style bike and the newer one, on one of my Bromptons. Overall I am happy, hence buying two sets. But the drive from the pedals is very unreliable to the point that I have now removed them from both bikes and just use the thumb drive, this actually makes the bikes illegal in the UK which is not ideal. The wait after ordering is ridiculous and the customer communications from Swytch is terrible. However, if you don't mind using the thumb drive and can get hold of a working set they are a joy to use and the battery lasts well.

A great bit of kit if you love your normal bike , was a bit difficult to install on my first bike but my partners was done and working in 20 min, ordering was a bit odd longer u waited the cheaper it was and then on top that price there was some import tax , which wasn’t clear when we ordered it

The power is good but the regular battery is only sufficient for short trips. I would probably need two or more of the bigger batteries for a day's cycling but I have not tested that. The weight of battery and motor on the front wheel create an instability for my less cycling-experienced wife. A quicker-to-operate on/off switch would facilitate conserving battery life on the flat and downhill. A lock on the battery catch would avoid the need to remove it when parked in town. The battery and mount occupy prime handlebar space making it awkward to mount a light, a front pannier and a bell - designing in a mount for a front light would be a boon. Swytch has been a low-cost introduction to the realities of an e-bike allowing us to understand the benefits - speed and power versus the challenges - eg extra weight, centre-of-gravity, range limits. Swytch facilitates 'sweatless' about-town trips, which is ideal when I can't afford to have to shower when I arrive, but the battery has insufficient capacity to help me overcome a long-distance knee problem I experience on long cycles. I appreciate that I could solve this with extra batteries, so this remark is merely to calibrate the Swytch performance in real use.

The kit is working perfectly except one point : the display device indicates 1 led ON although 3 leds are still ON on the battery . Worse : the motor is not working at all, when the led on the display device is flashing, although 3 leds are still ON on the battery.

Unfortunately the pedal sensor did not fit the bike . Not enough room/ space at the cranks

It works well but I'm in constant fear of a part going wrong because its impossible to get a spare part. Still waiting after 2 months to hear if I can get a spare battery.

i thought it would have been more interchangeable with some easier attachments to the bike, but really impressed by the power the motor gives, dunno if the battery will keep its performance in the long future though. also quite some delays in the delivery, so be patient

I have been struggling with my health. Adding the swytch battery to my bike has meant I can get out a bit more beyond a bus route. After the initial set up, it’s straightforward to use & easy to handle. So far so good 😊

I'm happy about how good is the kit, I ride my bike more often than before, leaving my car parked, and the kit is quite easy to mount, I did it myself. however, there are some cons: 1) I feel more drag as expected, about 20% of my power goes to win the drag when the engine's power is off. Feels awful to ride when the battery is down. 2) The battery range is also lower than expected, with the correct setting and use with level 1. I reach about 9 km with the small kit and 21km with the big one 3) the second kit came with the wrong wheel size, very slow, and disappointing customer care support

Took longer than expected to receive the kit. When it finally arrived it was winter and I wasn't motivated to set the bike up till the weather improved. Waited till spring to get started. Struggled to set up the ring that goes around the peddle crank correctly and online support was slow. Didn't feel like the kit was working for the first few cycles but reattached the peddle ring in a different way and the difference was instantaneous. Like using it now but battery life poor as I waited to set the kit up and only realised at that latter time that the battery should have been charging on and off since received. Better communication would have helped all the issues I experienced.

Really light motor and battery. Great for the steep hill I have to get home. Pretty easy to install.

This is strange as I already did a review here, referring to my original review on Trustpilot, but I'm not able to see it, so again: 3 Star due to really bad Customer Service (still new, so hope that no hardware problems down the line). Full review at: https://uk.trustpilot.com/reviews/64073063fac635bc34c74260 And also, check the 3, 2, and 1-star reviews (here) as the are very accurate from my experience related to my issue of C. Service.

I like that I am able to convert my regular Brompton into an electric bike. However the pedal sensor is always flaky and prevent the system from functioning well. I wish that configuration is less flaky.

Brompton Kit. The concept is brilliant, and probably a great way to experience electric biking on a larger bike. However, it is flawed with poor quality parts. The motor itself has a significant rolling resistance, I have been in contact with the support team who assure me that this is normal after viewing the video I sent them of the wheel barely freewheeling 2 revolutions (this is after a good running in period). For comparison the Brompton electric motor freewheels the same as a normal wheel. Why worry about the motor resistance, well the battery range is optimistic and with this motor, running out of juice is not something I relish. Their statement of having no drag is misleading! I cycle 6km a day for work, and if I don't charge it every day the battery starts dieing around 10 Km, no where near the 30km range it is supposed to have. This is at moderate speed and level 3 on the assist. My main niggle is the handle bar battery mount, if I dont clean the contacts on a weekly basis, then I get issues with motor sounding like a bag of bolts and loosing power, as it looses one of the drive signals to the motor. To be honest it is a waste on a Brompton as I always use a bag and can easily slip a battery pack into that. The customer service is good, and I have no problems with the company. Would I buy again? No. We have another Brompton to convert, and I have subsequently found other retailers offering conversion kits at a better price. In fact I think we will just order a kit from china and convert it ourselves.

Dont get me wrong. Lovely product however broke within 3 weeks. (after waiting 3 months for it to arrive) Support is what brings it down. Customer service is probably the worst I have ever come across, and the only method of contact is email. To be fair a month of emails and they have identified the issue, a replacement was sent, and it has fixed the issue, but another quirk has occurred. The roads and paths where we live are bad, and in doing so the handlebar bracket twists, stretching the little strap beyond repair. So had to do my own little "patch". Lovely product. But if anything goes wrong, you will be extremely disappointed with the support
