“no communication during the delays. I have reached out multiple times to get an update but heard nothing. i understand challenges and have been patient, but they need to prioritize communication. Im 80% sure this is a fraudulent company, 20% of my patience remaining.”

“I have the Brompton Swytch kit. It comes with a radially laced front (drive) wheel, which I have since learnt is an unsuitable design - the radial spokes have insufficient bracing against the hub to support the torque. As a result, all of my spokes rapidly became so loose that the wheel wobbles. This is a serious safety issue and I would advise any potential customer to avoid this product. NOTE: This review applies specifically to the radial lace pattern. Other aspects of the kit are quite good, but this major flaw overrides them.”

“My Swytch pro has been a total trial from the moment it was fitted. Ive been a cyclist and competent bike mechanic for 30 years and found the kit a doddle to fit, quick , clean and simple. But that was the end of my enjoyement of this product. For the first few rides it worked well and only occasionally behaved strangely, juddering, unespected loss of power and strange squealing noise from the motor hub. So winter came and went and I started using the bike again but this time the issues became more frequent until the bike was no longer fit or safe to ride. The motor would come and turn off without warning , almost causing a potentially deadly accident whilst crossing a fast busy road which resulted in a car screeching to a hault and sounding its horn at me as the motor had failed to initiate as expected as I tried to cross the junction. After this I sent an email complaining about the issue to swytch and the dreaded email thread began! Swtch sent email after email requesting detailed description and videos of the issue which I patently obliged, and with every email there was a delay of between 4 and 7 days which resulted in the issue not being addressed for several months! After sending me a number of replacement part ( again each time taking over a week to arrive ) the issue still hadnt been fix. Eventually they sent me a new controller and battery pack which fixed the problem for a month or so but then the problem returned. So I purchased a second hand controller from ebay and that fixed the problem almost entirely. So I decided to contact Swytch again and asked to purchase a spare controller for when the current one breaks and leaves me stranded miles from home. Easy right? Not easy at all. First order paid via a link sent to me but then nothing, then more emails asking for more information and address, followed by an email stating they couldn't find my order!? So I opened a dispute with paypal to get my money back and tried again to order a spare controller.....6 weeks later and another 3 or 4 emails they have now said they are out of stock! 2 years nearly of owning a swytch kit and totally regret buying it. So many hours wasted trying to sort out something that should be so simple and in fact should never have been necessary in the first place if the product had been fit for purpose in the first place. Long story short DO NOT BUY A SWYTCH KIT!”

“After more than 1 year's wait expectations for the Brompton gen 1 touring kit were high. Initially everything seemed to be working fine. Not for long though. On pretty much every ride the battery will shut off after 15-20 minutes of riding and becomes increasingly erratic after that. Support offered very little help. Since the kit is no longer offered I am out of luck. The offered fix: buy a new one. This kit has cost me more than 6 USD per mile. In the mean time the marketing emails keep coming in. My conclusion: overmarketed, under engineered and under supported. Very disappointed.”

“I have 2 kits. Both purchased over a year ago. Fitted both bikes and put them away until our vacation July 2022. Troubleshooting and swapping reveals that the handlebar mount/ control unit is faulty. I have many open service tickets but no one is answering. These kits were over $1100 US and I can’t get a response from Swytch. Anyone home?”

“I could cry! I haven't yet had one decent ride on this bike . I purchased the pro, hoping to get a decent 35 mile ride on one charge. I have had a sprodiac 4 mile ride before the power pack cuts out. And then it is hit and miss to whether it works! First they thought it was the bracket which I changed, and it made absolutely no difference. I contacted them to let them know and nothing was done. Extremely disappointed I put the bike aside for the winter. I desperately wanted to see someone about it and took it to Halfords but they could not help. I then contacted Swytch again to tell them about my dissatisfaction and a really lovely chap brought my hopes up by saying it was the controller that was faulty. Next day delivery I received the part and was so hopefully about finally taking my bike out on a decent bike ride without any anxiety, as my bike is now incredibly heavy since the conversion and I am surrounded by hills were I live, so literally it kills my back which is the reason I decided to purchase the Swytch in the first place! I followed the instructions from a you tube video to fit the controller, and joyously went on a bike ride. Initially it worked, but after 2miles I stopped at a friend's house for approximately 30, turned the power pack off and put it in my rucksack. Unfortunately, when I went to start my epic adventure the bike yet again failed me ! Thats why I could cry, as I have all these high hopes that just since Ive had this bicycle keep getting crushed! I desperately wanted and have continuously asked whether I could see someone in London and I need reassurance and I've never really had reassurance, remote support; but that's not the same as reassurance that the product is fully operational. I understood this at the beginning as being due to Covid, but so long afterwards, it's just frustrating! I converted this on my own in Lockdown and initially found the pedal sensors difficult to position. I've managed this now but now it has stopped powering. All I ask is for someone to get it to work for me and considering it's never worked only in occasional fits but more trouble than it's worth with its unpredictable and frustrating and a standing joke with my colleagues at work & friends! It's not fit for purpose unfortunately. It has now stopped powering altogether now. I'm so disappointed, it has not been plain sailing at all.”

“Paid extra to receive power pack earlier. 5 months later - it still doesn't work. easy to set up but one part wrong shape so had to be replaced before it could be assembled. They sent the same part again! Next delivery was the same part again and a near fit part but it needed filing down to fit. Then power pack would not fit the handlebar shape so new bracket need to be ordered. This one no longer sat on the handlebars so each time you want to change the power level you have to stop. It worked in the end well - for two/three journeys. Then it started to fail, only giving a short power boost as the pedal was pushed down and then stopped powering. Then it stopped powering altogether. Zoom call followed and technician decided on the 'solve it all' new bracket for the battery. This arrived and did not make any difference after being fitted. Next, it was decided a new controller would do the trick. Arrived, fitted - made no difference. Now another Zoom call in several days time. I have pleaded for someone to come and sort it but they will not. I have offered to drive through London to take the bike to Swytch - they will not agree. I have asked twice for a refund for the extra payment for early delivery and the charges I have incurred and they have said they will sort it - they have not. It is a standing joke in my neighbourhood and at my office. The sales video says"we are there to help if you need" As polite as the people are they are not helping the customer and the end result is frustration, anger, reputational damage for the all singing smiling image that is portrayed. Very sad - especially as the intention was to support an innovative new business. Meanwhile the customer is totally inconvenienced and out of pocket.”

“Not happy at all have tried to contact swytch but customer care and support doesnt appear to exist only automated replies and no phone number to physically talk to a person.. The advert says from swytch to convert any bike 🤷‍♀️ I fitted my kit to my ladies pashley bike which has hub breaks I'm now left with a bike that two bike shops have told me is dangerourous to ride and unsafe as I now have no front break which is illegal..I'm confused that swytch has not mentioned this in any of their instructions before you buy.. I'm now left with a worthless expensive piece of kit and a bike that Is not safe to ride plus no support from swytch .. Trying to find a way to maybe have a v clamp fitted and new wheel forks but not sure if the swytch wheel has a rim for this.. Just at a loss with this does anyone know the phone number for swytch please”

“If possible this would be minus 5 stars! Do not buy!!! Absolutely terrible. Ordered a mountain bike wheel from them. The website, the specifications and the order process does NOT tell you anywhere that the wheel will NOT fit either of the modern axles for mountain bikes now - The axle on the wheel does not fit a QR9x100 fork nor a Maxle through fork - This was an order that was placed in the summer of last year with a delivery in January - and the wheel would only appear to fit a bike that has forks on it that would in way suit a mountain bike. Absolutely NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE! Customer service do not appear able to assist either!”
