The children were fully engaged and everyone had a speaking part. Children with less confidence built there confidence over the session and were really involved by the end. The story telling element was fantastic and all the children listened with full concentration throughout. The children enjoyed performing at the end and it gave them a deeper understanding.

What an amazing day! Craig was amazing and very professional. Each workshop was appropriate for the age range, all pupils were engaged, and everybody left feeling confident. I was so happy to see some pupils that would never stand up and perform have the confidence to recite Shakespeare in front of their peers. I am looking forward to booking again. A great experience for both pupils and staff.

Some of the language was too difficult for the children to understand in the workshops and the performance. More facilitators would have been better. It was a bit simple, lots of reading off a screen and not very inspiring. Sorry to sound so harsh but it was disappointing!

The workshop was good, however we were expecting props to be used during the workshop. Lizzie was very good at leading the session.

West End in Schools came in as part of our school Arts Week 2019. John did amazing workshops with every class from Reception to Year 6, 14 classes in two days on The Lion King. Every pupil loved it! Staff were so enthusiastic, it was a great way to kick start Arts Week, thank you! Mickleover Primary School

Some reviews from the class teachers; "It was fantastic, ran smoothly, great how all parts came together and very inclusive with Makaton and break down of parts to enable all year groups to take part. Also thought doing half school each day was great. Plenty of time and not rushed." (Reception) "My class thought it was brilliant. They were all engaged and enjoyed how active the tasks were.He made a special effort to use Makaton and made sure all of the children understood the story. The children smiled during the session and rehearsal and all said they wanted to do it again!" (Year 2) "He was amazing, really inclusive of Cherry Class using Makaton to support what he was saying. I also really liked that he took the time to meet with us the day before to introduce himself to put our boys at ease. As part of our English work I got Cherry boys to write about their drama experience, here are some of the comments: "I loved it when he shouted the words, it was funny" "I like doing the actions" "I was a fairy in a forest, it was good" "I like the man" "I loved the music" "He was funny!" I think the boys loved the fact that he was so animated and it was great from an observing point of view to see how he really engaged them with his story telling and actions!" (Resource base KS1) "What an amazing day for the children. Year 4 were totally engaged and it was lovely to see some of the less confident children shine. He picked children, what seemed to be, randomly which was great because all children got a chance! He was incredibly engaging with the children and it was an amazing experience." (Year 4) "The Shakespeare workshop was brilliant! The Y6 pupils thoroughly enjoyed it. The leader was v engaging and inspiring and the children were able to develop acting skills but also enjoy the story and discuss the language used. The show at the end was very well put together and it was great to see all the children getting a chance to speak on stage." (Year 6)

Ali our facilitator was excellent. He had a fantastic understand of our students different SEN needs and had adapted each session accordingly. He was extremely enthusiastic and completely captivated our students. Each workshop enabled that group to tell a different part of the story and the backing tracks were exciting for the students. We couldn't recommend the experience and Ali highly enough. Thank you!

A very inspiring workshop, the children and adults loved it! We chose one book to work across the school which meant that we could use it to theme a whole school topic. The children were very enthused from the workshop and produced some fabulous pieces of writing and art work as a result. Thank you!

The year 4 class at St Patricks thoroughly enjoyed the dance workshop based around Where the Wild Things Are. It really captured the children's imaginations and helped them to explore different issues raised in the text. Highly recommended!

Jimmy from West End in Schools was excellent at engaging all our pupils and producing the best performance from each and every one of them. He made Shakespeare 'come alive' in a final dramatic extravaganza which included performances from 180 pupils and exciting interaction from the audience. We will certainly be asking West End in Schools to revisit in future years.

Katy and George were lovely and very talented. Unfortunately the show and performance weren’t appropriate for the needs of our students - the performance was not interactive in a style which was accessible for SEN students.
