Great workshop as always. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and can retell the story too.

Lucy came to our school over a two day period and delivered Ramayana dance sessions for our celebration of Diwali to all the children in oor school from Reception to Year 6. Lucy was amazingly dynamic, filled us all with energy, gave us an amazing experience that the children and staff will always remember. She brought alive the story of Rama and Sita and the school was buzzing with positive comments and vibes afterwards. Thank you so much 😊

The Diwali Dance Workshop was great. We had booked the short 35 minute slot where children were told the story of Rama and Sita. They were encouraged to take on the role of different characters from the story and were then taught movements that would help them retell the story. It would have been ideal if these sessions were 45 minutes so the children could perfect their craft and have enough time to show off a final performance. Children were very engaged and were able to retell the story independently as a result.

The actor who came was lovely with the children and they joined in really well. It was good to see them participating in drama activities, and showing off their knowledge of the topic, but was not quite what we had anticipated in terms of content. Key Stage 1 children don't need to do timelines, and quite a lot of the session was spent looking at Florence Nightingale's position in history. We had thought that perhaps there would be role play from 'Florence Nightingale', perhaps with artefacts, in appropriate costume. But the children enjoyed the workshop, and it made a change from sitting in their seats. It gave the teaching staff food for thought in how they might incorporate drama in future history work.

The children really enjoyed the dance workshop. Carys was patient with the children and very engaging. She made the Diwali dance fun and everybody joined in with the actions and facial expressions that she modelled. The sessions were progressive and Carys taught the dance in small stages alongside a Diwali story, this really helped the children pick up the dance moves.

Today our Infant department took part in the Diwali workshop run by Megan. All of the children had such an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed the workshop! Megan was great at making it accessible for all and kept all of their attention the whole time. I would highly recommend this to any school that will be teaching Diwali in the future as the children learnt so much. Thank you very much again.

Vivien was really enthusiastic about the activity. The questions about Diwali were good and consolidated the children's learning. The children loved the warm up with some Indian dance moves. Although the children enjoyed the 'What's the time Mr Wolf' game and the musical statues with the animals, the adults felt like this whipped them up too much and would have preferred the children to have concentrated more on the actual dance. We would have liked Vivien to discuss and demonstrate the Indian dance moves and speak about the names of the different moves. We had also agreed before that each group would get 40 minutes unfortunately some groups only had just over 30 or 35 minutes. Thank you

The children and staff all loved the Diwali workshop. We have used this company several times now and we have always been very impressed. One teacher even said 'this is the best one so far, the children absolutely loved it'.

We experienced a day of fantastic Diwali dance workshops for our Year R and 1 children. Oliver was enthusiastic, expressive and engaging with each group. Children enjoyed the sessions and learned a little more about the Diwali story and how it can be represented through movement. Staff could not praise Oliver enough for the wonderful sessions and we would definitely book West End in Schools for other workshops.

Olly was fantastic, all of the children in all 4 groups loved it and got involved. He has excellent behaviour management strategies and what he acheived with the children in 35 mins was amazing. I have had a number of members of staff who were present, come up and praise how great it was.

Anne-Marie arrived in good time yesterday for our Diwali workshop. She was well-prepared and extremely personable, interacting beautifully with all three Year 4 classes and giving them a lovely pre-Diwali experience through dance. Thank you for a great afternoon, West End in Schools!

I just want to say a massive thank you for the Diwali workshops today. We have a deaf provision at our school and it was fedback by staff that the resources provided ahead of the lesson ensured that the deaf children could access as well as the hearing children. Teacher said that the sessions were lots of fun and children were really engaged. We will definitely be using you next year!

Well planned and age appropriate sessions. Children gained an understanding of the celebration of Diwali, ahead of our learning in school next week which will support them well. We look forward to using examples from the dances in our whole school Diwali assembly (to be held after half term). Abby was professional, patient and skilled while delivering the sessions and we look forward to having her back! Many thanks.
