Books eventually picked up by Evri after I phoned webuybooks twice to say they hadn't been been collected on either of the two dates indicated and agreed on the website. Also, only a small proportion of books are accepted. Then, at the end of the process, the value is not enough for me to "sell these items" and I have wasted my time.

Took time for money to arrive

Not long enough between listing books and making a trade. Hard to read so many books to get to £5 when some books only 10p or 20p in the time allocated. Once trade expires, books listed are no longer accepted.

Very selective on books qualifying for purchase (in my case about 5 of 50 entered) Initial collection date missed When collection arranged again the payment was very fast

I never receive the promised labels for book collection and always have to ring up to get them sent by email. This has not changed since trading started with you. Prices are poor in comparison with other buyers. Tiresome to enter barcodes manually if not scanned.

The service was ok, but I wouldn’t recommend over competitors - 1. You can get more money with a competitor - not the best pricing 2. I had to ask where my payment was after 2 weeks; they said they hadn’t received my box but then found it the next day…. 3. Took off money for books that are in reasonable condition - they are only giving you 10p anyway! 😂

i agreed a trade with you for some folio society books and because they do not have isbn numbers i was told i would be sent a special code to complete the trade. 3 days later i had not recieved a code so contacted you customer services who arranged a for code to be sent and i also requested the postage labels be sent to me via post as i do not have a printer. i then completed the trade on my laptop and booked a pickup. the very next day i recievedan email from evri saying the courier was on their way to collect my parcel, this was not the day i had booked and as i was not at home i could not have put out the parcel and the labels had not arrived since i only requested them the day before. evri then sent an email saying they had been unable to collect my parcel as it had not been left. the very nesxt day i recieved another email from evri saying the courier was on their way to collect my parcel, again this was not the day i had booked and the same issues still applied. then the day before my collection was booked the labels had still not arrived so i had to go into town and pay to get them printed from my phone so i could send the parcels. the collection day arrived but the courier did not. so now i had to book another collection and finally on their fourth attempt evri collected my parcels. ibreathed a sigh of relief and waited for my payment cheque. then 8 days after the parcels had been collected i got an email from webuybooks asking if i had forgotten to send my items as they had not been recieved. several emails back and forth between me and webuybooks later i was finally told that the parcels had actually arrived and were being processed. several days after that i then recieved the cheque payment which was for the wrong amount so more emailing between me and webuybooks to get that sorted out. it seems every step of this process was accompanied by a problem and needed me to contact webuybooks to get it sorted. on the plus side the gentleman i spoke to several times from customer service was very polite and did get the problems sorted and when i emailed webuybooks regarding the problems they did respond within 24 hours and had usually managed to address the problem

Useful website to recycle old books however two issues with the service; There is a basic flaw in the "Sell your items" application. If an ISBN number is entered that results in the message "Sorry, we are not currently accepting this item" being displayed then this occurs every time other ISBN numbers are entered. Immensely frustrating and only resolved by deleteing any/all items in the Selling Basket, logging out, clearing the browser cache and logging back in again to start a new session. Not great, rather difficult to use. Also takes far too long from when packaged books are received to making payment and it being received in sellers account. I started trying to use We Buy Books so that hopefully someone may get use or enjoyment form our old books, rather than them ending up in landfill, so its not about the money offered for books.

Collection company missed pick up two or three times. Payment was slow to arrive and less than agreed, without explanation?

It is easy to use but the price they offer for the books and CD's etc is so low I would prefer to give the items to a charity shop.

I was told 4 books were missing which really shocked me as I checked the number of books twice to make sure they were all there. I can’t prove this so the payment was reduced.

Takes over a week from collecting at local shop to payment into my account. I'd like to know why it takes more than 3-4 days ?

Hello Derek, Thank you for leaving a review. Looking into your trade we can see that payment was processed within 3 days of your items being collected from the drop off point. We allow upto 5 working days for the items to reach us following collection and we advise that items are checked and paid for within 2 working days. Packages go through the courier network rather than delivered straight to us after being collected from the drop off point. We hope to see you trading with us again soon. Best regards, WeBuyBooks

They always refuse the more expensive books, these books are 2nd hand so are not going to be in 100 percent perfect condition. They say they recycle them? Of course

Hello, Thank you for leaving a review. Our Quality Control Team do not have access to the prices offered for the items to ensure these are fairly inspected against our Item Condition Guidelines. We understand that the items are second hand and will have some wear and tear, however, we have a duty to buying customers that these are in a good condition. When an item does not meet our guidelines, the item can be returned or recycled. Best regards, WeBuyBooks

You might as well give your items to charity or throw them away. The offer is a waste of time and so is arranging to send your items to webuybooks. You also have to have the accepted amount of minimum of £5 worth of items. This could be 20 items. For as low as 10p each. They make even £5 worth of items virtually impossible. In other word you're giving your items to webuybooks - books, CDs, DVDs for pittance.

It is very hard to find books that we buy books want to buy. We have been having a big clear out and I'd say 98% they didn't want. Also they pay very little for some books often only 15p

I had a nightmare with the rather incompetent collection service [evri]. However Webuybooks customer service was not to bad attending to the problems thereof. But, overall, it was all slow, and it generated stress, this is why, unfortunately, I am not that enthusiastic about selling further books to then.

I have so many good books in really good condition and you are not interested. I find it a complete waste of time.

Thought it was a great idea for my daughter to sell her unwanted books and earn herself some pennies. Sadly they took a month to pay up. Not sure it was such a great plan after all!!

We Buy Books uses a dedicated courier firm, Evri - there are no Evri 'drop-off' points near me. Consequently, a considerable amount of petrol is required to drive 20 miles or so to deposit my books. Secondly, the purchase price offered by We Buy Books is very, very low. It will barely pay your travel expenses for depositing the books. Because there appears to be no competition for selling secondhand books, WBB can offer whatever they want; in this case, derisory prices. The books I sold were mostly academic texts; some of them were not easy to find. Perhaps WBB is more generous with novels - but I think this is unlikely...how many copies of the 'da Vinci Code' (or insert ubiquitous title of choice) do they need? In conclusion: donating the books to charity will be less hassle & you won't be losing out much financially, sadly.
