The warranty is completely worthless. The staff member I dealt with at the Worthing store had a terrible attitude and tried to fob me off with some utter nonsense reason as to why they couldn't repair my faulty phone under warranty. He told me that they don't repair any defects on an item if there is ANY other unrelated "physical damage" as this "voids the warranty" - pointing out a minute and barely visible hairline crack on my camera lens which had nothing to do with the defect. Using this logic, everything they sell must have a void warranty as they sell used items! What a joke. This is a shame as I have bought several items from cex in the past, partly because of the warranty. But now I have absolutely no confidence that they would fix anything under warranty, so Cex won't be getting a single penny more of my money. Their loss, as I have spent thousands of pounds with them in the past, including two phones worth £920 each.

Mam went Carlisle branch. She’s elderly asked staff for phone that did exactly same as one she had. Took it with her to show him. Then trusted he sold her the same. Turns out he sold her one with less storage. Paid £140 then I said it’s not the same she returned it few days later to be offered £20 trade in. DISGUSTING.

Had a flip phone developed a crack in the screen from the inside out and they told me that its a software only warranty and not hardware. I took it to resolver.co.uk and got nowhere on there as its just the same pepole you talk to from cex. cex reply. "All customer complaints are dealt with by us only and in situations like these, the management team is also involved in order to reach a final outcome. We are not members of any third party dispute resolution groups. However, you have the option of seeking guidance from an entity that regulates such cases as per discretion. Once contacted, we would be happy to liaise and provide all the information." I asked "If you dont take part in any third party dispute resolution groups what do i do?" You have the option of approaching the court, and once the respective correspondence is received, our legal team will liaise accordingly. "You have the option of approaching the court, and once the respective correspondence is received, our legal team will liaise accordingly." They just dont bother, 24 months warranty is worthless

Brand new Samsung s22 ultra never opened and was offered b grade on trade in due to scratches when it was brand new. Chippenham cex is awful. Offering £80 for one plus Nord, go home sort it out come back down 30 mins later, £60 we didn't check it properly before, we only give you estimated quote. No your supposed to check the item give us a quote for the actual price in its condition test it then confirm transaction. Absolute clowns that run these shops.

Absolute disappointment in the lack of openness with this company. Even go as far as saying they scam you. I took a mint condition iPhone to my local store in Leamington Spa. The phone was 18 months old and in all the original packaging etc. NO scratches or dents. A mint handset like new. But they were unable to explain what more was needed to make it an A grade and graded it as a B After testing I was told it was unserviceable and offered the money for an F grade. The reason - battery service indicator was on. They told me the battery would need replacing before resale as that was company policy. I begrudgingly took a voucher for at least £100 less than its actual worth. I then ordered a newer model replacement iPhone online. When it arrived the battery service warning was on. Returning to my local store this morning I was told it was Corporate policy online to sell phones with degraded batteries but as their branch was a franchise they had a policy of only selling phones that had new batteries where required. Had I have gone to a different store for whom battery’s weren’t an issue, I would have been offered full price for my mint phone, but I wasnt informed of that. Clearly they wanted to make a huge profit from me which is graceful. Even worse is that an active SIM card was left in the dirty and greasy finger smeared screen. This SIM contained the former owners contacts, thirty five of them including their own name and number. The location was also obtainable. This is a dreadful breach of data protection!!!!! I have phoned EE and destroyed the SIM at their request. So I’m with a phone that from this morning at 100% charge is now at 59% three hours later with little usage. Due to a family tragedy I cannot currently be without my phone and so I’m buggered. Shall never ever deal with this company again who have different standards across different branches and “corporate” who are happy to sell phones with defective batteries. Total scammers and the worst retail experience of my life.

Damaged the pins on a Ryzen CPU I was trading in whilst testing it and tried to blame me. CEX in the Parkway Shopping Center in Limerick. This CPU was taken out of a motherboard working perfectly and replaced with a newer model This was placed carefully into the protective pack from the replacement and remained there until brought to CEX. Somehow they managed to damage the pins on all four corners of the processor, most likely because they tried to put it into their test motherboard incorrectly and then lied to me about it saying it was damaged beforehand. As if I'd be stupid enough to chance trading a damaged CPU knowing full well it would be tested before I would get paid. WORD OF WARNING. Take detailed photos before anything is sent for testing because they have complete liars working there.

They sell damaged DVDs! Avoid! Bought Lord Of War (2005) from CEX Guildford a few months ago... Have been just watching it and 3/4 through at 1 hour and 23 minutes it gets stuck and the only way to watch it is by bypassing a really important scene as the disc has to be damaged and gets stuck there only allowing jumping to the next scene... Unbelievably annoying and Awful of this company to sell films without actually checking that they sell! From 0 to 10 they ge -1000000!

My latest order was reduced by 15% (over £70) as they classed it as a bulk order, the reason? I sold 3x usb flash drives at £4 each. Utterly disgusted and will be using other stores to buy/sell my wares. I was always an advocate for cex and had a great rapport with my local store but this is a new low.

Took a iPad Air and iPad Pro to store… Took a iPad Air and iPad Pro to store to sell , was informed iPad Air had antenna fault so went to store and collected , was paid less than agreed by store via bank transfer with out consenting or being contacted about the price change. Emailed cex 20 times waiting days at a time to get a response to receive a email saying I had collected the iPad Pro and left the broken iPad Air at store ??!! I have photographic evidence of the iPad I collected being the iPad Air with the sticker saying broken antenna. I have requested cctv of the store handing me back the iPad Air and not the iPad Pro. Which has been ignored as this is classed as theft by the store I will be contacting the police. I strongly advise anyone selling a item not to use cex especially the Dudley store Date of experience: April 29, 2023

We bought a monitor in December with in 5 months it developed lines on the screen so we took it back to cex as it was under warranty they refused to sort the issue out and tryed to say we had dropped the monitor even though it hadn't been dropped it's a case of they just can't be bothered to sort the issue out and will do anything to avoid taking responsibility it's common knowledge that the castleford store always do this with faulty goods

I have used these a lot over the years, mostly for computer, games and dvd purchases and also used them to sell to. The trade in values can be good and quite poor, same with other shops that offer trade, but obviously if they low ball you too much then you go elsewhere. If youre desperate for a big of cash then they can be good to use although the one gripe i have is unlike some other 2nd hand shops, they dont keep a lot of money in their tills, so offer bank transfer. not really good if you need the money there and then. Not every store as nice employees, but some do and some stores will honour a refund. I havent had too many problems with them. I have only used their online ordering a handful of times and have honoured refunds if needed, but also some items have been just fine without complaints. Ordered a 2014 imac which was a grade and while it turned up fairly quickly and in good condition, apple keyboard and magic mouse that was meant to be with it didnt get put in the box. Thankfully after getting in touch with customer service they sent out the keyboard and mouse which work fine and arrived pretty quick too. Cost me £190 which is the most ive spend on a single item, so was glad it wasnt a waste. Overall they are Hit & Miss, but not bad.

When I attempted to trade in my brand-new ipad for an item that was literally destroyed, I was told that my ipad was damaged and they tried to buy it off me for a very low price. However, when I went to a different store, I was told there was nothing wrong with it and it was sold for a reasonable price. As if the swindle wasn't enough, the staff members were incredibly disrespectful. They lacked professionalism and are con artists. If you value your money and time, you should avoid their store.

l got a laptop from cex Hp pavilion G6 It failed(hardrive failure) after 2months. l had a 24month warranty l told the workers of Cex in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, shires They said they were going to fix it l was so happy because l wanted to use it for my studies. After 5days they told me that the serial number on the receipt and the one on the laptop were not the same 😕 this was soo frustrating as they were saying l had bring another item Which wasn't theirs So they told me to contact their supplier l did and they did see it was the real Thing and they agreed to take it in again then after 1week they said that they found a crack on the laptop's 15.6 inch screen Which wasn't true because the laptop had no crack l was 100% sure it didn't They sent it back l checked it out And there was no scratch or crack l sent it back to them And they said it was just a small misunderstanding and put the blame on a worker.l gave them the laptop and ever since l haven't received it It's been 4weeks now and they're still saying they're fixing it😕😕😕 l will never buy anything from Cex Ever again They're just scammers And waste customers time l wouldn't recommend buying there

Ordered a PS4 online in Dec for my son. To date I have not received the PS4 and CEX refuse to give me a refund. Despite several emails to CEX and Royal Mail who claim to have delivered the package to someone with initials PM I am dissapointed with the way both companies refuse to resolve the matter. CEX are saying its royal mail and vice versa meanwhile CEX have my £250 and I have no product. This is a simple case of fraud and theft. Until this matter is resolved and I get a refund from CEX I will keep going. CEX is a shameful, unprofessional company that refuse to accept responsibility but are happy to take your money. The next stage in this is a report to the police and trading standards.

Do not use CEX, they scam you out of your money. I bought my mum an Apple Watch for her birthday to only have it turn up locked to someone else’s account, breaching GDPR law and I’m being refused a refund or replacement! Absolutely disgusting and money wasted! DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Here's what they don't tell you Here's what they don't tell you Do not buy high end phones from this company no matter what. If you buy a high end phone from CEX you are then automatically stuck with them. For instance, let's say you buy the latest iPhone from them, some time down the line the phone you bought get's black listed (reported lost/stolen) and becomes unusable. They will NOT give you your money back. They will give you a voucher, sometimes not even that. Instead they'll tell you that they'll replace it for you. This will take at least a week if they don't have in the store that you visit, this could be even more. So they finally replace it for you, however, that phone gets blocked again. Another week of emailing back and forth to get that replaced. Guess what else? This new phone that is being replaced will only have the remaining warranty left on it. In other words, you purchased your original phone from them 1 year and 6 months ago. The phone that they've replaced for you will only have 6 months of warranty left. So now after 6 months if it get's blocked they will hang you out to dry by saying it's out of warranty. Don't let them fool you with the classic "we test them before we buy them and do a check to make sure that it's not been blacklisted" The truth is that they might do those checks but there's absolutely nothing they can do to check that your phone will not be blacklisted in the future. I repeat nothing.

Sent me games which never worked. They obviously hadn't even been tested before being sent out and when i emailed to get a refund or replacement they reply with an automatically generated email. If you order anything from them online be prepared for it not to work. I wont order another thing from them because yhey send out untested products and their customer service is absolutely terrible.
