“much like everyones reviews, i purchased something on line and unknowingly entered into a monthly subscription with this company. they owe me x20 payments of £15.00 each. stay away (scam)”
“I was signed up after a purchase on Buyagift.com. I never consented to this or my bank details being shared with a third party for a subscription service”
“I telephoned four times to complain that 20 x £15 had been taken from my bank. Initially I was told that a form was being emailed to me; no form arrived. Eventually, when I refused to accept that I had knowingly entered into any agreement with Complete Savings, the (overseas) agent to whom I spoke suddenly told me that he had been authorised to refund all my payments totalling £300 within 7 working days.
Sure enough, a week later 20 x £15 appeared in my account.
I think that this is a legal scam and you will get your money back if you keep trying. Curious that the three year old review with 5* appears at the top of the review list.
So far as I can tell, this all started when I bought a ticket using thetrainline. I have appealed to thetrainline; they have been very unhelpful. I suggest using National Rail for on line train bookings instead!”
“I experienced the same. It seems I inadvertently subscribed to 'Complete Savings' when I purchased something online. I had no intention of doing this and had never heard of them before hand. If there was mention of this subscription, it was extremely unclear.
They started to take £18 per month from my account.
Rather than contacting them, I spoke to my bank who successfully disputed the transactions and I got my money back that way.
However, today I received £18 from them! Which worries me, because it suggests they still have my bank details on their records. I'm following this up with my bank and have sent 'Complete Savings' an email asking them to cancel what ever account I have with them and insisting that they remove my details from their systems.”
“I didn't reallise when I agreed to signing up that the subscription had a £15 a month membership fee - Why was that so quiet. I tried to put my claims through and they failed. Somehow this company is still legal even when the products don't work.
Get a charge back from your banks. Try it anyway. Trust Pilot warns to avoid this company but how can you avoid them when you don't even know you've signed up.”
“Total scam sent everything asked for told I didn’t comply for refund please please don’t click the button at check out you talk to customer services once and that’s its scam scam scam BEWARE”
“It's a con. It looks like you are getting cashback but in reality you are signing up, without it being obvious, for £18 a month DD. You would have to buy something through their 'members' every month, submitting receipts each time, to get anything back. They must scrape the payment details from your original purchase (in this case Appliances Direct) because I didn't add my bank details to their own payment dashboard. BEWARE. I have written off £18 and asked to cancel with immediate effect. We will see how they respond. Don't trust the positive reviews.”
“This really does have the feel of a SCAM. Apparently when I bought a rail ticket on line, I inadvertently filled in an on-line application form that allowed Completesavings to take £15 per month from my account! This happened many months ago, but unfortunately I only noticed today. Since the payments started, I have received no communication giving information as to how I am supposed to benefit from the scheme... which I never intended to join.
I have telephoned Completesavings three times to ask for a form to claim back the money taken from my account. I have been told that the claim form has been sent by email; but it has not arrived as yet. In fairness, the telephone calls were all made today.
I may be wrong, but it feels like I am being discouraged from applying for my money back. When I called the fraud team at my bank, I was told by the lady to whom I spoke that she herself had been caught out by this. It seems that if I persist I have a chance of getting my money back. If you are in this position, don't take no for an answer. |Be careful when you by anything on line... including train tickets.
Completesavings telephone number is 0800 389 6960. You are likely to speak to an overseas (very polite) assistant.”
“They’re thieves. Pure and simple. I haven’t signed up to them. They helped themselves to £18 from my account and then wanted my card and bank account details to get the money back!
Crooks!”
“Not clear that if you think you are getting a saving from companies like Buy A Gift you are in fact agreeing to Complete Savings having your card details and charging you £15 per month. Lack of transparency by the company that you buy from and scant information that you have in fact been given a 30 day trail after which CS take your money
Be careful this is a scam by any other name”
“Complete savings is a complete scam. It is used by numerous company’s such as Trainline to enable cash back schemes, they give basically no information that they will set up a £15 monthly payment for this membership. There have been numerous reports of many people being completely unaware of sending £15 a month to this company. Luckily it is easy to cancel the subscription.”
“I have never joined complete savings. but they write to me to advise that I update me details including password. This is never going to happen, and I find this process abusive.”
“I don’t recall signing up to this scheme and have no idea how this company got my bank details. They’ve taken money out of my bank account for almost 18mths and I didn’t even know it. Makes me very very wary of shopping online. Apparently the got me through a mobile phone purchase! This company use very shady practices. I certainly did not knowingly sign up to a rogue savings scheme. Something needs to done about this. I shall be making a formal complaint to Financial Ombudsman.”
