“The packaging isn’t tamper proof. Hoping it was just crushed in the mail and the box was crushed open.
The push part don’t fit/click into the the applicator and falls out and into the loo.
So disappointed. Stupid design.”
“Quick delivery. First time cup user and never going back to pads. I prefer tampons to pads but always find that they dry me out, so cannot use them all day and night. This is the best of both worlds as it’s like a tampon but holds more blood, is reusable and easy to clean. I forget it’s there and can fall asleep at ease knowing I won’t wake up in a puddle. Absolutely worth it if you’re on the fence.”
“Great customer service experience from a super knowledgable team who clearly know their stuff!! Super happy with my cup and with all the advice I received on which product was right for me :)”
“Everything started great until the processing of the order. I was given an order confirmation order number, told my order was on the way after paying for 2-3 day shipping and nothing happened. Multiple attempts to reach customer service through their website went nowhere and I've still yet to receive my items. I never received a notice that they had even seen my attempts to contact them. The only way to submit a compliant is via their Contact Us page where there's no number to call. In retrospect, this should have been a clue that things were going to go wrong.
I had such high hopes given all the previous reviews and sustainability platforms rating DAME so highly and could not be more disappointed.”
“The applicator worked perfectly in the beginning! Unfortunately the applicator has not held up over the years. I believe mine is at least 4 years now and the opening at the head of the applicator has widened over the years so that it’s very painful to insert now. Still better than using a single use plastic applicator 4+ times a day but not as long wearing and sustainable as I would have liked.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else again. These pads solve pretty much ever problem - firstly, they work really well. They are easy to wash, they are discrete and look good, and they don’t smell. Can’t imagine going back to regular pads or tampons. Im
I can’t wait to try the period pants.”
“First time cup user and I can honestly say it’s a game changer. No concerns exercising whilst using, far better than tampons and just a whole new outlook on menstruation full stop. Thank you so much for this great product - easy to use and loved the humour and presentation skills on the videos !!! 10/10 for product, information and making my periods so much better !”
“I've got A DAME Period Cup and Pants and they are working really well for me. The pants are great at night, and the cup has been a great alternative to tampons - needs changing less frequently and much more comfortable once in. If you're considering it I would highly recommend.”
“I switched to DAME a while back and very quickly stopped getting pain and cramps on my periods which are also less heavy and more regular. Love the fact that the tampons appear through the post too. Wish you jad been around 20 years ago.”
“I ordered through NATURISMO.CO.UK and am currently on my period as I write this, and I really regret buying the dame tampons. The applicator is great and I almost didn’t buy it because of bad reviews, but my ‘body’ type would be a ‘small’ vaginal canal and I’m not that sexually active and I haven’t had any issues with the applicator. But this review is about the tampons.
I’m someone who tends to blindly buy and there was a free shipping cut off (I’m based in Italy) so I bought the tampons in bulk without ever having tried them. I thought: the reviews are great, they’re organic cotton (so they’re healthy for my reproductive organs) and I know tampons work for me, so win win. It’s also not my first time using 100% cotton tampons that are applicator free so I assumed I’d have a good experience like most of the other reviewers. I was wrong.
This is probably my FOURTH period cycle (yes fourth) where the DAME tampons absolutely do not work for me and I already wasted money on them and may just throw them away - all the remaining 60 to 100 of them I can’t count. Let me explain what has happened FOUR period cycles in a row.
It’s almost like my blood slides off the tampon and straight on to my pad beneath it. If this problem was isolated to me and happened with all tampons used within one day, I’d just think it’s my body anatomy/shape of my uterus causing it. What happens is: I check my pad while peeing, it’s full of blood. I then think “oh no my period’s so heavy today, thank God I saw this! So I remove the pad and pull out the “full” tampon, only to see that the tampon is perfectly white in the middle and only has blood on the sides. I then think oh wow that’s so strange… perhaps the tampon was either too big or too small? So I then use another dame tampon, and same problem. I then use the regular instead of the super size, same problem. It’s like the cotton doesn’t absorb my blood. Isn’t that what tampons and period products are supposed to do? I then thought maybe I’m inserting it wrong (even though this never happened with other tampons, truly, the only issue I’ve ever had was it feeling weird because I haven’t inserted it far enough, not this) and then tried to insert it laying down instead of standing in my bathroom. Same thing. And guys this has happened four months in a row. But magically, if i use a tampon from another brand after another failed dame tampon, my pad is not full of blood and when I do get increasing spotting and pull out the tampon, miraculously the tampon is full of blood, as it should be.
Just not worth the cash lost and the subsequent headache… Additionally/most importantly - this problem does not happen if i use a tampon from another brand (Ob organic tampons), which I am going to continue to use, after the fifth month in a row, on the first day of my period, where I have a pad full of blood and an almost clean tampon inside me. Make it make sense. I am now sitting here, writing this review, with an Ob tampon up me after removing a clean DAME tampon with a pad full of you know what. I’m really disappointed and will also contact customer services because that’s just ridiculous honestly. I’d add pictures but I’d probably be banned. I strongly don’t recommend (if you live abroad) since shipping is so expensive. But if you live in the UK you can try out ONE pack and do not bulk buy like me.”
Hi Adeola,
I'm so sorry you've not had a great experience with our organic tampons. As you can imagine this is absolutely gutting for us as we’ve not been able to provide the type of product you were expecting!
Please could you email hello@wearedame.co and our lovely customer service team can help you fix this, we'd love to be able to rectify the situation!
“While I think the idea of creating a reusable applicator is genius, the functionally of it is not as good as I hoped and certainly not nearly as good as with the single use applicators coming with tampons. In most of my attempts, instead of pushing the tampon out of the upper part with the plunger, the upper part was pushed inside with the tampon. And I want to use an applicator because I cannot easily reach there this is especially uncomfortable. I think this happens because the plunger and upper part are not connecting in any way and the material is very slick. Is is so much easier to move the whole part up with the tampon than move the tampon out of it. The material is very nice though and it is easy to clean. Needs a version 2.0 however to be functional in my opinion. Unfortunately not a replacement for single use applicator tampons for me.”
“These pads are excellent - when they don't leak straight through at the edges of that black section in the middle! Alas, when they do that's £10+ down the drain... But I am still fond of the ones that have survived 6 months, they're some of the best I've tried (hence 2 stars rather than one).”
Hi there,
I'm so so sorry you've not had a 5-star experience with your pad. It sounds like you might have our old design.
Our new design have a different shape in the centre black section - they are oval, not bean-shaped and so have more coverage for your period. They also have wider wings for added leak protection and to secure the pad in place.
We would be happy to send out our new ones to you (free of charge) to compare? We would really appreciate your feedback and it's no trouble at all on our end💚 I hope the new design works better for you.
Please get in touch with hello@wearedame.co and we can sort out your replacement for you.
“Bought the reusable pads a while ago and really wanted to love them…while they are pretty comfortable they just don’t work for me. They keep moving around so much in my underwear and they don’t really seem to absorb any blood at all. I‘m not a particularly heavy bleeder, but the blood always collects on the surface of the pad and doesn’t get absorbed so it always feels wet. Very disappointed.”
Hi Clara!
I'm so sorry you've not had a great experience with our reusable pads. It sounds like you might potentially have our old version. If so I can send out a new replacement. We've re-designed the pads so that the black bit in the middle provides more coverage and the wings are wider to stop the pad from moving.
I have emailed you. Please let me know if you have any issues with the replacement and we can move forward with a different solution 💚
“I am obsessed with Dame – both the pads and the tampons and can't imagine ever going back to a non-sustainable / chemical free option. Not only is the brand's ethos, packaging and purpose bang on but the products themselves feel so well made and are priced reasonably. I use a combo of the tampons and the pads as I find them to be an absolute lifesaver for over night or long journeys/ days out etc when you're worried about bathroom access. I particularly love the little pouch the tampon applicator set comes with - so simple but unbelievably useful, even when I'm not using the applicator (especially as I used to worry about having tampons loose in my bag because of germs). The website is really easy to use and everything I've ever ordered has arrived when expected. Highly recommend to all people with periods!”
“The best eco-period brand on the market! I have made the switch to using DAME products solely and cannot rate them highly enough. The pads are SO much more comfortable than traditional plastic pads, and they work out so much cheaper in the long run. It's great to use products that help me save the planet and my pennies!”
“I use the Reusable Pads every period now and find them super comfy. I used to hate disposable pads as i found them uncomfortable, sticky and thick but DAME Reusable Pads keep a lot dryer and you can't feel them in your pants nearly as much.
Have recommended to everyone!”
